According to the latest report by Dataxis, Banijay overtakes Sony beyond the biggest hits, with 32% of broadcasts across Europe’s top 50 game shows.
Sony Pictures Television leads among Europe’s 12 most-broadcast game-show formats, accounting for 32% of transmissions against the combined Banijay–All3Media portfolio’s 29%.
Across the top 50, the positions reverse: Banijay reaches 32%, almost twice the share of either Sony or Fremantle, each at approximately 17%.
The figures cover broadcasts on tracked European channels in 2025, grouping Banijay and All3Media under the corporate structure established by their merger on 9 July 2026. They measure broadcast frequency across all slots in 2025.
Banijay’s second tier makes the difference
Sony continues to capitalise on its long-established franchises: Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? account for almost all its broadcasts in the table. Banijay also relies on established hits, including Deal or No Deal and Don’t Forget the Lyrics, but draws on a broader catalogue, with Chacun son tour, The Legacy and Pointless contributing further down the ranking. All3Media reinforces that breadth with Everyone Against Everyone, The Traitors, Lingo and Cash Cab.
All3Media’s contribution becomes more substantial as the selection widens: its share rises from 8% among the top 12 to 11% across the top 50. Banijay’s pre-merger catalogue remains comparatively steady, at 21% and 22%. The combination therefore adds particular weight beyond the highest-ranked franchises.
Banijay is also sourcing formats from the creator economy. It acquired global format rights to Stop the Train, created by Squeezie and Théodore Bonnet for YouTube, and international rights to All Star Hide and Seek, a streaming format developed from Roni Bäck’s YouTube videos. These deals supplement corporate consolidation with acquisitions of newer concepts developed outside traditional television production.
