Known locally as Negócio Fechado and hosted by Tânia Ribas de Oliveira, the series will air on RTP1 Monday to Friday starting 5th October.

Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP) today announced that Cash or Trash, the factual entertainment format from ZDF Studios, is heading to Portugal, after RTP commissioned a local version. Portugal is the format’s 12th international version.

Known locally as Negócio Fechado and hosted by Tânia Ribas de Oliveira, the series will air on RTP1 Monday to Friday starting 5th October and will be co-produced by WBITVP Spain & Portugal and Coral Europa.

In Cash or Trash, everyday people dust off antiques, heirlooms and oddities, hoping they’ve uncovered a hidden fortune. Expert appraisers first reveal the secrets and surprises behind each item, before sellers head into the Dealer Room, where buyers go head-to-head in bidding battles. Some walk away with a healthy sum, while others leave empty-handed.

Since launching in Germany in 2013, Cash or Trash has produced more than 10,000 episodes globally. The German original, Bares für Rares, is produced by WBITVP Germany as a daily series for ZDF, while in France, Affaire Conclue is transmitting its 10th season for France Télévisions. Italy’s Cash or Trash: Chi Offre di Più has recently celebrated its 400th episode for Discovery, and the BBC in the UK has aired eight seasons as The Bidding Room. Portugal is also the latest in a run of new versions and renewals. Bares für Rares Österreich, on air in Austria since 2020, found a new home on Puls 4 in late 2025, and two new versions launched the same year on Nova TV in Serbia and Croatia. A second Serbian season premiered in May.

André Renaud, GVP Format & Finished Sales at WBITVP, says: “We’re thrilled to welcome RTP into the Cash or Trash family. Very few formats can point to more than a decade on air and still be opening new markets, but this one has a brilliantly simple idea at its heart: the genuine jeopardy of never quite knowing what something is worth, or how far a dealer will go to own it. Just as important are the people and the stories behind every object, and there’s no better host to bring those our than Tânia Ribas de Oliveira, one of the most popular faces on Portuguese television. With our WBITVP Spain & Portugal team producing with Coral Europa, we have the perfect combination to make Negócio Fechado a firm favourite with RTP1’s audience.”
