Executives from The Walt Disney Company, Lemon Studios, Paramount+ and Telemundo Studios, alongside leading industry experts, will evaluate the finalist projects in MIP Cancun’s new scripted competition.
MIP Cancun today announced the international jury for the inaugural MIP Cancun Scripted Pitch, a new competition created to discover and accelerate scripted projects with international potential from Latin America, Spain, Portugal and the U.S. Hispanic market.
The jury brings together five leading executives and industry professionals with extensive experience in content development, production and original programming across some of the international entertainment industry’s most prominent companies:
Monica Albuquerque, VP of Original Content Brasil, The Walt Disney Company
Billy Rovzar, Chief Executive Officer, Lemon Studios
Ivan Stoessel, Content Development Expert and Creative Producer
Gabriela Remirez, VP of Original Content, Mexico, Paramount+
Iralyn Valera, Director, Future Development, Telemundo Studios
With backgrounds spanning scripted development and production, original content creation, and the discovery of new stories and talent, the jury members will bring complementary perspectives to evaluating the selected projects and their potential to connect with international audiences and partners.
The five finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their projects live before the jury and the international MIP Cancun 2026 community on Thursday, November 19, at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancún, Mexico.
“I am especially proud to introduce such a diverse and complementary jury, whose unique backgrounds and track records reflect different perspectives across our industry,” said Maria Perez Bellière, Director of MIP Cancun. “The collective experience they bring in development, production and content creation will provide tremendous value to the selected projects and their creators. This is exactly what we want to achieve with the MIP Cancun Scripted Pitch: not only to identify distinctive stories with international ambition, but also to connect them with professionals who can bring new perspectives, open doors and create meaningful opportunities for their development and international journey.”
The MIP Cancun Scripted Pitch is open to creators, screenwriters, producers and production companies from Latin America, Spain, Portugal and the U.S. Hispanic market with original scripted series or feature film projects in development and seeking financing and international partners.
Five projects will be selected to take part in the live final at MIP Cancun 2026. Finalists will receive a complimentary all-inclusive MIP Cancun accreditation, including three nights of accommodation from November 17–19, meals and access to all activities open to registered participants.
In addition to pitching their projects before the jury, finalists will gain access to an international community of producers, buyers, commissioners, platforms, broadcasters, investors and potential co-production, financing and distribution partners gathered in Cancún.
The launch of the Scripted Pitch is part of MIP Cancun’s continued evolution as the leading hub for IP development, financing and monetization in Latin America, creating more opportunities to connect projects at an early stage with partners who can contribute to their development and international potential.
Submissions are free and will remain open through September 2, 2026.
