The deal with Fremantle includes the 2027 launch of the new action drama across multiple markets, along with the addition of the complete original Baywatch library to the streaming platform.
Prime Video has secured the multi-territory international rights to the new Baywatch series, produced by Fremantle and FOX Entertainment, in a deal that will bring the show to Latin America, Canada, India, and several European markets in 2027.
Under the agreement, Prime Video will premiere the series in Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Benelux, Switzerland, Austria, Turkey, Canada, Latin America, and India following its debut on FOX in January 2027.
The deal also includes the addition of the complete original Baywatch catalog—comprising all nine seasons of Baywatch and both seasons of Baywatch Hawaii—to Prime Video in those same territories, reinforcing the relaunch strategy for one of television’s most iconic franchises.
The new 12-episode series features an entirely new cast of lifeguards while retaining signature elements of the franchise, including the iconic red swimsuits and its blend of high-stakes rescues, action, and drama.
The series stars Stephen Amell as Hobie Buchannon, alongside Jessica Belkin, Shay Mitchell, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, Noah Beck, and Brooks Nader. David Chokachi reprises his role as Cody Madison, while Erika Eleniak, Michael Bergin, and Kelly Packard return in guest appearances as their original characters.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Prime Video to bring the new Baywatch to audiences across multiple territories, while also giving fans the opportunity to revisit the original series they know and love. Few shows have made as big a splash or had such lasting cultural impact as Baywatch, and this landmark deal marks a significant moment for one of the industry’s most eagerly anticipated launches,” said Michela Di Mondo, EVP Distribution, Canada & International at Fremantle.
The new Baywatch is co-produced by Fremantle and FOX Entertainment, with Matt Nix (Burn Notice, The Gifted) serving as showrunner and executive producer. McG directs the premiere episode and executive produces alongside Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto, and Mike Horowitz.
FOX Entertainment Global will retain domestic distribution rights in the US, while Fremantle will handle all international sales of the series.
