The Israeli studio strengthens its international expansion strategy with the appointment of the veteran executive, whose career includes leadership roles at Amazon MGM Studios, MGM, Fox, Sony Pictures Television and TF1.
Sipur Studios has appointed Ludovic Attal as its new president, bringing on board one of the industry’s most experienced executives in content strategy, international co-productions and financing.
Based in Israel, Sipur has emerged in recent years as one of the most active independent studios in the international market, building its growth strategy around the development, production and distribution of premium content for global audiences. Attal’s arrival comes at a pivotal moment for the company as it seeks to expand its network of international partnerships and accelerate the development of new film and television projects.
Attal joins Sipur following senior leadership positions at Amazon MGM Studios, MGM, Fox, Sony Pictures Television and TF1. Most recently, he led brand partnerships for Amazon MGM Studios’ European originals and oversaw content strategy for the studio’s pan-English content division. Prior to that, he served as SVP of Content Strategy for MGM’s worldwide television distribution business, managing the international exploitation of titles including The Handmaid’s Tale, Fargo and Vikings.
In his new role, Attal will work alongside co-founders Emilio Schenker and Gideon Tadmor to drive the company’s next phase of growth, strengthening strategic partnerships across the global market and expanding its development, financing and production activities.
The appointment follows a series of strategic moves by Sipur in recent months. Earlier this year, the company named former Legendary Entertainment executive Deborah Kaufmann as Chief of Global Content. The studio also recently secured a significant investment from Shari Redstone, former controlling shareholder of Paramount Global, who has additionally taken on the role of chair of the company’s board.
Founded in Israel, Sipur has gained international recognition through productions including Bad Boy, acquired by Netflix for global distribution; the medical thriller Heart of a Killer; the romantic comedy Look At Me Like This – Noa’s Journey; and the documentary We Will Dance Again, which focuses on the events of October 7.
With Attal’s appointment, Sipur is reinforcing its ambition to establish itself as a major player in the global premium content market, at a time when international co-productions and cross-border partnerships continue to play an increasingly important role in the growth strategies of independent studios.
