The platform’s VP of Sports, Gabe Spitzer, commented the platform is interested in talking to FIFA about potentially negotiating the rights to the 2030 tournament.
Netflix is interested in speaking with FIFA about acquiring broadcast rights for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, according to comments made by its VP of Sports, Gabe Spitzer, during an appearance on The Main Event with Andrew Marchand podcast.
The comments were first reported by Sports Business Journal, which noted that Fox’s current U.S. rights deal expires after the 2026 tournament.
Spitzer said Netflix is increasingly focused on securing global sports rights rather than only U.S. deals, pointing to the company’s growing investment in live sports programming.
Netflix’s next major soccer project will be the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which Spitzer described as the company’s “most ambitious” live sports production to date
