This past Saturday, the group held its traditional presentation at LA Screenings, showcasing an impressive lineup of content, including Brazilian films, Hollywood blockbusters, and new original productions that will further expand the Chespirito universe.

As the 2026 edition of LA Screenings Independents came to an end, Telefilms kept the momentum going this past Saturday, May 16, at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, where it hosted its traditional screening and cocktail reception to present the latest additions to its catalog to buyers and industry colleagues.
And this year, the group doubled down on its commitment to bringing the best titles to screens across the region, with a robust catalog that combines major Hollywood releases with Latin American titles, original productions, and returning franchises with new installments.
The event began with remarks from Tomás Darcyl, president of Grupo Telefilms, who highlighted the variety of offerings they brought to Los Angeles for the screening, an event they have been holding for over 36 years since the first one in 1990. “We have everything we’re doing in Brazil, everything we’re doing with THR3 Media, and a Hollywood lineup like we’ve never had before. We continue to invest heavily in the business,” Darcyl stated.
From Brazil to Latin America
The content presentation officially began with remarks from the group’s co-president, Ricardo Costianovsky, who opened the program with a selection of Brazilian titles. “We’re going to present content from Galeria, one of Brazil’s leading production companies. They are fresh, modern, and, above all, very commercially viable products.”
The selection of Brazilian films included Pecadora, Assalto à brasileira, Pai de viagem, Estación de bônus, Veraneio, O futuro da humanoe, and Além de um Olhar; in addition to the children’s content TurmaTube and Palavra Cantada.
The Chespirito universe continues to expand
Next, Bruce Boren, CEO of THR3 Media Group, took the floor to celebrate the success of Chespirito: Sin Querer Querer, the HBO Max biographical series about Roberto Gómez Bolaños, which captivated audiences and broke viewership records. Premiering in mid-2025, the series reached number one in viewership, and in its first month, it remained in the top 5 most-watched series globally.
“I want to thank HBO and WBD for their support, the tremendous production last year, and the results we are presenting here,” said the executive. “After a year on the air, the number of awards it was nominated for and the awards it won.”
“This is the spearhead for the rest of the Chespirito intellectual property productions,” the executive announced, leading into the presentation of the trailer for the second season of the animated series, Los Colorado, produced by THR3 Media and Huevocartoon, which premiered in January on HBO Max and Cartoon Network.
“The second season is coming completely reloaded, with more action, more villains, and more fun,” the executive revealed, also thanking Rodolfo Riva Palacio, creator of Huevocartoon, who was also part of the presentation.
The executive shared more news coming from the Chespirito universe, starting with the new live-action series based on the character of Don Ramón, which was announced at the end of last year and is already in development. “We’re in the writers’ room, writing. We already know what the story will be like, obviously based on Roberto Gómez Bolaños’ original scripts. We have very high expectations for this new project,” Boren revealed.
On the other hand, Boren announced that they are working on a new live-action film about El Chapulín Colorado. “We want to tell you that a film, an origin story, about El Chapulín Colorado is coming in the future,” the executive revealed. “We are very excited to be able to create an origin story of the most beloved -and most well-known- hero in all of Latin America.”
And if that weren’t enough, Boren also announced a new animated series about El Chavo del Ocho. “We had an initial development of an animated series about El Chavo del Ocho, in which we learned a lot. We decided to redo it, and now we are working with a studio in Brazil, developing a new animated series about El Chavo del Ocho that is coming along very well. In the coming months, we will be finishing a couple of episodes of this new series with the characters rethought, reimagined, revamped, very dynamic and very modern, but always respecting the characters and the original scripts by Roberto Gómez Bolaños.”
The Best of Hollywood
Finally, it was time to present the major Hollywood titles that are Telefilms’ flagship films, with a selection that includes some of the most successful and anticipated movies of recent months.
To begin, Costianovsky revealed some of the films that Telefilms has added to its catalog, highlights from the Cannes Film Festival, with an enviable selection of titles such as I Play Rocky, a biographical drama that chronicles the development and production of the 1976 film Rocky; The Brigades of Rattlecreek, directed by Park Chan-wook and starring stars like Pedro Pascal and Matthew McConaughey; Art, directed by Fernando Meirelles, with Ralph Fiennes and Colin Farrell in the cast; The Custom of the Country, starring Sydney Sweeney; and the thriller Bitcoin, directed by Doug Liman.
“In addition, there are several more films in negotiations that we cannot announce yet,” the executive revealed.
To close, Telefilms presented a selection of over 20 films, some of Hollywood’s biggest box office hits, completing its offering for the international market: Cliffhanger; Marty Supreme; Nuremberg; Black Tides; Power Ballad; Talent for Murder; Sacrifice; How to Make a Killing; Hokum; Des Man’s Wire; Shelter; Victorian Psycho; Spa Weekend; The Invite; Onslaught; Ice Cream Man; By Any Means; Saccharine; Runner; Animal Friends; The Drama; and Greenland: Migration.
The event, held in the Albert Room of the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, concluded with dinner and a spectacular gift for the attendees.
