Media and entertainment powerhouse, Banijay Entertainment, announces The Bicycle Race, a new adventure reality format, created by EndemolShine Nederland (part of Banijay Benelux) and Talpa Studios for SBS6.
Spanning eight episodes in the Netherlands, the original series will be showcased this week as part of Banijay Entertainment’s line-up for The London TV Screenings.
Inspired by booming global bike-packing trend and the Netherlands’ enduring love affair with two-wheeled travel, The Bicycle Race follows six celebrities as they team up with a partner, friend, or family member to compete in an epic adventure -completed entirely by bike. But speed alone won’t be enough to win. Set against the striking chaos and beauty of India, the six teams must make smart tactical decisions to navigate unfamiliar terrain, trying to earn money in high-stakes challenges, and rely on the generosity and insight of local communities. This back-to-basics journey is the adventure of a lifetime – and the biggest culture shock they will ever face. Each stage lasts three days with one couple leaving the show at the end of it. After an unforgettable 12-day journey, only one couple will be crowned the winners of The Bicycle Race.

The Bicycle Race builds on EndemolShine Nederland’s ongoing relationship with SBS6, following the digital-first format Let’s Play Ball, also co-produced with Talpa Studios, and Signal.Stream. The format is now being developed internationally in both the US and UK.
