Reality shows are the spearhead of the Chilean broadcaster’s strategy for 2026, a genre the network is banking on to remain a leader in the highly competitive local primetime, while continuing the path it pioneered in vertical microdramas.

Canal 13 closed 2025 as the top-ranked network in Chilean primetime, in part thanks to the success of its reality show Mundos Opuestos, which yesterday was honored with a Latin Rose d’Or Award. The network kicks off 2026 with a solid strategy aimed at strengthening its schedule with new reality shows, now produced in Chile, and with a genre in which it has been a pioneer: miniseries-style microdramas.
Rodrigo Correa, Canal 13 Chile’s Commercial Director of Content, told ttvnews during Content Americas, where the company is showcasing its content portfolio, that “Mundos Opuestos belongs to a highly competitive genre like reality shows, which have become our spearhead, especially in primetime, where we already have a very clearly defined strategy.”
Since it was originally developed with Sergio Nakazone, and thanks to the evolution the program has undergone -now in the hands of Marcos Gorban and Cooking Media, along with Rodrigo Bustos- Mundos Opuestos has managed to remain competitive and maintain a strong connection with audiences. “Above all, it has allowed us to remain the reality channel, which continues to bring us audience, engagement, and different elements we’re looking for as a television network that connects with viewers,” Correa said.
The executive also revealed that the next reality show they are preparing, Vecinos al Límite, will be produced in Chile—a major shift after years of producing in Peru. “A teaser was recently released in Chile; by the end of the month we’ll be holding a massive casting call, which has been a real success. It’s a new format, and it’s generating a lot of expectation and interest wherever we’ve presented it, especially because it will be produced in Chile,” Correa noted.
Correa also highlighted titles such as El Clan: “These are contents that have also earned international awards,” he said. “We would love for this title to continue traveling.”
For her part, Adriana Weber, Product Manager at Canal 13, noted that Mundos Opuestos is a brand that has traveled internationally and delivered very strong results. “It continues to prove and reaffirm how powerful that brand and that format are. And that’s what we want to replicate with the upcoming reality shows. With Vecinos al Límite, we’re confident it will be another success, another milestone, and another Canal 13 flag to keep adding production and moving forward,” she stated.
The executive emphasized the network’s important position in the region. “We can’t stop producing, and we are pioneers. We’re arriving at Content Americas at a mature point after a 2025 period that brought us many successes,” she said.
Pioneers in Microdramas
When it comes to microdramas or mininovelas, Canal 13 has set the pace in the region. “Last year we launched two mininovelas, and they delivered excellent results, with more than 25 million views, which leaves us with a well-paved path to continue developing this genre,” Correa explained.
Canal 13’s Commercial Director of Content added that the company is seeking partnerships and faces an important challenge in monetizing mininovelas. “It’s a genre that is very much in vogue today, but the idea is to sustain it. To do that, we need to build partnerships, develop financing models, and above all, deliver high-quality content. We’ve already announced that this year we’ll be launching 10 new mininovelas,” Correa concluded.
