Enjoying a prominent presence at Content Americas thanks to a catalog of Spanish scripted series that arrive in Miami with a proven track record of success, Movistar Plus+ has two more reasons to celebrate this Wednesday, following its participation in yesterday’s Rose D’Or Awards.
During the ceremony, the platform received two awards in the scripted categories, where the second season of Poquita Fe (Buendía Estudios) won Best Comedy or Dramedy; and Querer (Feelgood Media and Kowalski Films) won Best Miniseries or Limited Series.
“We are incredibly proud of this recognition,” Rebeca Aguilar, recently appointed Head of International Distribution at Movistar Plus+, told ttvnews.
“We had Poquita Fe representing comedy, which is a very distinctive product; and then we had Querer, which is another very distinctive product, but in a completely different genre. Winning both makes us proud and motivates us to continue creating stories that resonate with people around the world,” the executive explained.
“Poquita Fe already won the Rose D’Or with its first season, so I think this is a fantastic recognition for the series, wonderful,” she added. “And Querer is a fantastic series. It leaves no one indifferent, with impressive production values. It’s a story that resonates globally, because it happens all over the world.”
These awards represent a fantastic year for Movistar Plus+, which closed out 2025 with major premieres and significant growth. “The end of the year has been magnificent,” said the executive.
“We finished with Anatomy of a Moment, which for us has been a milestone on all levels. On a platform level, because it has been one of the most-watched series we’ve ever had. On a communications level, the impact it has had in the press and everything that has accompanied the series itself. From the premiere in San Sebastián, the co-production with Arte, and the audience mandates,” she highlighted.
“We finished the year in a way that seemed unbeatable, but this year we’re coming back with much more enthusiasm, with a very good product, and with the desire to continue improving and bringing clients content that interests them and that they want to continue working with us,” she revealed.
In this regard, the executive highlighted the premiere this month of Marbella: expediente judicial. “It’s a series that had an excellent first season. Disney+ had the first season and will have the second, just like us. We are very happy about that.”
“Then, starting the year after January, we’ll have Por cien millones,” she continued. “We’ll also have Yo siempre a veces and Se tiene que morir mucha gente. So we’re very happy to have new additions to the catalog.”
What lies behind the success of these productions? The executive maintains that it’s about finding the best team at every stage of production.
“It’s very important for us that at every phase of the project we have the best people behind or in front of the camera,” she explained. “That’s when we have the best screenwriters, the best directors, the best producers, and the best actors.”
“Regarding genres, it’s true that we try to offer variety. Because we believe that viewers need to be stimulated in different ways. And that’s where our desire to offer such disparate genres comes from, from a comedy like Poquita Fe, which is in its second season and is excellent for the story it tells and how it tells it, to Anatomía de un instante, a series based on a true story and inspired by the important book Anatomía de un instante by Javier Cercas.”
“We believe that this kind of offering is what awakens different feelings in the viewer and makes them want to stay with us for much longer,” he concluded.
