The audiovisual industry has its first event of the year in Miami, where Content Americas is gearing up for three days of intense activity, following an opening day focused on participant registration and preparing the suites and market floor spaces.

More luggage and shopping bags than business meetings were seen this Monday in the lobby of the Hilton Miami Downtown, where attendees slowly occupied and organized the spaces that, starting tomorrow, will be the venues for in-person, face-to-face meetings; a dynamic still crucial for the audiovisual industry.

There was little networking today, but some companies managed to hold their first business meetings in what they expect will be a week full of important encounters.

This is the case with Inter Medya, which arrived at the event with the spectacular success of its two main series, Halef and Esref Ruya, the latter in its second season, plus the novelty of vertical content: “Right now we have three in our catalog; one that is an Inter Medya production, De la oficina a la cama, and two from other production companies,” commented Beatriz Cea Okan, Vice President and Director of Sales and Acquisitions at Inter Medya.

Vertical content is on everyone’s lips, and in Latin America, Chile has been at the forefront of its adoption. “Auditoría de amor, with 50 minute-and-a-half episodes, exceeded all our expectations; it has reached more than 25 million views and a very happy audience,” said Javier Goldschmied, Programming Director at TVN. “We are going to premiere our second vertical fiction title, Mi marido me robó la memoria (My Husband Stole My Memory).”

NEW STORIES

This Tuesday will also see the final round of the CoPro Pitch, where Scarpetta Media hopes to be the big winner with the comedy José Piedra, un tipo con mala suerte: “Written more than 15 years ago, it’s a comedy about second chances. For us, it’s a second chance to be able to show it here,” explained Jonathan Wul, co-founder and CEO of Scarpetta Media. “We updated it, revamped it, and targeted it more towards a US Hispanic and Mexican audience. Tomorrow we’ll present it to a jury of six people, and on Thursday we’ll find out who the winner is.”

If we’re talking about new stories, that’s what drives Break Da Rules, the new company led by Edgar Jaramillo, which is present at Content Americas with a significant delegation. Joining Jaramillo are Ignacio Segura, Creative and Commercial Director; and Nicolás Matiz, Head of Operations and Technology. “We have several projects that we’re starting with incredible partnerships,” revealed Jaramillo. “We had certain things we’d been working on since February, and I can tell you, without exaggeration, that the pipeline has doubled since November.”

IMPORTANT APPOINTMENTS

The event also served as a platform for important news, including Telefe Studio securing a new season of Sres. Papis, and its adaptation in Greece, which will also air in Cyprus on Alpha TV.

Regarding appointments, Movistar Plus+ announced that Rebeca Aguilar has been named Head of International Distribution. Aguilar had been serving as International Sales Executive since joining the company in 2022.

Onza Americas, for its part, announced the appointment of Vincenzo Gratteri as its new Chief Content Officer (CCO). Gratteri is present at Content Americas along with other Onza executives such as Carlos Garde, Harvey Grisalez, and Gonzalo Sagardía.

This Tuesday, Content Americas will open its market floor and kick off its important conference schedule, which is expected to be a success. endow the event with the dynamics to which it has accustomed us.
