After years of growth to become one of the most recognized producers and distributors of Spanish content worldwide, Atresmedia International Sales arrived in Cannes for the latest edition of Mipcom with a new space that is proof of this success.

“For the first time, we arrived at Mipcom 2025 super happy and excited because we have our own stand at the market,” Miguel Garcia Sanchez, Director of International Sales at Atresmedia Sales, began in a conversation with ttvnews.

“We are pleased with the company’s growth, both in terms of brand and sales. It’s yet another example that Spanish-language content distribution remains in high demand. Furthermore, we are the leaders in both Spanish-language content production and sales and distribution. We deserved a space like this,” he added.

Atresmedia entered the market to continue strengthening its Atresmedia Series brand, which represents the quality of the Spanish group’s original productions.

“A few years ago, we created a seal of quality and guarantee called Atresmedia Series. It represents series with great stories, high-quality content that travel well and are successful both nationally and internationally. We are very proud to externalize this seal around the world,” the executive explained.

“Atresmedia series include hits like Ángela, which is in the top 10 on international platforms in Latin America and Europe. Atresmedia series include A muerte, which premiered worldwide in all territories, including Spain. Atresmedia series includes Sueños de Libertad, which remains the most-watched series daily in Spain for 400 episodes since March 2024. And it’s much more. It’s everything we’re producing, what we’re bringing to this market, and what we’re creating for future markets,” he summarized.

Sueños de Libertad is one of the major series the group is presenting at the Cannes event, which is not only a resounding success in Spain but continues to conquer the international market. “Sueños de Libertad, which will soon begin filming its third season, is a bestseller in many territories. And we recently announced that it has arrived on HBO Max in Latin America and Brazil,” he emphasized.

“Here we’re also highlighting a great production, Las hijas de la criada, based on the novel by Sonsoles Onega. It’s a super-powerful drama, a story with twists, secrets, and revenge that will captivate audiences. It’s a series we know will bring us many hits. We’ll premiere it on Atresplayer in Spain on November 30th, and it’s being presented for the first time here in Cannes,” said García Sanchez.

Set in Galicia in 1900, in the pazo de Espíritu Santo, Las hijas de la criada tells the story of two girls, Clara and Catalina. Clara is the daughter of the maid, Renata, while Catalina is the daughter of the Valdés family, Don Gustavo and Doña Inés. An unexpected revenge will shake up the lives of these girls and all of them, and will force Doña Inés to survive heartbreak and the pain of abandonment. And also the power struggles to turn his real daughter into the heir to an empire, in an era when women weren’t allowed to be the masters of their lives.

“We’ve also brought ¿A qué estás esperando?. The big news for this adaptation is that it will air on Antena 3 and that we’re beginning production on a second season,” the executive revealed. “The tremendous success it’s had on Atresplayer led us not only to continue the story, but also to bring it to our main channel.”

Regarding distribution, the executive also highlighted the potential for adaptation of its stories, which have already found success with local editions in different territories.

“Atresmedia’s series are very good because of their stories, which can travel and be adapted to other territories. A great example was Velvet, a series produced by Bambu Producciones for Atresmedia, which Telemundo saw could be given new life with a new Latin version. They created a series by changing certain aspects, and it has been a success. Velvet, un nuevo imperio, has had 96 episodes and has been a very successful primetime show on Telemundo.”

“And there have been many adaptations, such as Los hombres de Paco or Aquí no hay quien viva, or Gran Hotel, which was adapted in the US by ABC. It’s further proof that Atresmedia’s scripted formats work extremely well as adaptations.”

Finally, the executive spoke about the new entertainment offerings the group is introducing to the market. “In entertainment, we’re promoting El desafío and El camino a casa, which was adapted by Telefe into a new Argentine version that we hope will premiere soon.”
