The success of Mesa de regalos stands out as one of the major milestones of 2025. The romantic comedy, co-produced by The Mediapro Studio and Pampa Films for Disney, became one of the top film releases of the year in Mexico.

Javier Esteban, Director of International at The Mediapro Studio (TMS), shared with ttvnews the company’s key titles and strategies ahead of Mipcom 2025, where it will showcase a broad portfolio that reinforces its position as one of the leading global players in production and content distribution.

“In scripted, we’re bringing new series such as Raza brava, Yakarta, El resto bien, and Reykjavik Fusion, films like El talento and Mesa de regalos, and unscripted formats including El Conquistador, 400, and Futuro imperfecto, among many others,” Esteban explained.

The executive highlighted the studio’s growing activity in the region, with productions that combine local talent and international reach. “We’ve just announced the production of El resto bien, the new series created by Daniel Burman and co-directed with Daniel Hendler, a comedy about a man going through a midlife crisis. It’s a co-production between Oficina Burman and Cimarrón, both part of TMS, for Flow in Argentina, and we also hold worldwide distribution rights,” he said.

Another recent milestone will be the October 27 premiere of El Conquistador: supervivencia extrema on TelevisaUnivision, the Mexican adaptation of the successful Basque format that has aired for 21 seasons on ETB. Cimarrón and TMS’s Mexico team produced the Latin American version.

On the scripted side, the studio is also preparing the launch of the second season of Consuelo for ViX and the upcoming Prime Video premiere of Cometierra, the highly anticipated adaptation of Dolores Reyes’s acclaimed novel, also directed by Burman.

Success of Mesa de regalos in Mexico

Esteban emphasized the impact of Mesa de regalos, “one of the great milestones of 2025 for TMS.” The romantic comedy, co-produced by The Mediapro Studio and Pampa Films for Disney, became one of the year’s best-performing releases in Mexico and is now available on Disney+ across Latin America.

“The film ranked among the top 20 highest-grossing Mexican movies in the country’s history. Beyond proving the vitality of romantic comedies, it reinforces a creative model we plan to keep exploring with new titles,” Esteban noted. “A good example is the series Consuelo, which, after two successful seasons on ViX, continues in the same line of humor, emotion, and connection with audiences.”

New formats and international documentaries

In the unscripted field, The Mediapro Studio continues to strengthen its lineup with distinctive titles. “Among this year’s new formats that we’ll also take to Mipcom, Futuro imperfecto stands out, Andreu Buenafuente’s show on RTVE’s La1, which has just launched a new season. The program offers a fresh approach to the classic talk show, built around Buenafuente’s personality and insights, and featuring collaborations with talented comedians and actors,” Esteban said.

The Mediapro Studio is also advancing in the production of two international biographical documentaries, centered on Joan Rivers and Benny Urquidez, both developed through its US and Canada office. “The appeal of the genre lies in the interest of the characters, but also in the production quality and the way their stories are told,” Esteban added.

Expanding production services

The studio’s production services division, led by Cimarrón, has had a particularly active year. “They’ve been involved in major international productions such as The Kiss of the Spider Woman, directed by Bill Condon and produced by Artists Equity (Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s company), and The Disappearance of Josef Mengele, directed by Kirill Serebrennikov, which premiered in the Cannes Premier section of the festival,” the executive said.

Within The Mediapro Studio’s ecosystem, Cimarrón has also handled production for El Conquistador: supervivencia extrema for TelevisaUnivision, as well as participated in El resto bien, Cometierra, and the feature film Catch Me If You Can, co-produced by TMS, Telemundo, and Cinépolis.

With a strong presence across Europe and the Americas, and a catalog that spans scripted, documentary, entertainment, and production services, The Mediapro Studio heads into Mipcom 2025 reaffirming its global vision and commitment to telling local stories with international impact.
