In addition, the executive was promoted to SVP of Global Content.
ViacomCBS announced Thursday that Darío Turovelzky was promoted to General Director of ViacomCBS for the Southern Cone and Senior Vice President of Global Content.
Darío Turovelzky, who will continue to report to JC Acosta, president of ViacomCBS Networks Americas, will now be in charge of the direction and general administration of the markets of Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay, while also keeping under his responsibility the global strategy of contents of all the ViacomCBS brands for the region, including platforms like Telefe, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., MTV, Comedy Central and Paramount Network.
“I am sure that Darío’s talent and ability allows us to carry out our company to the next level, strengthening our brands and leading new challenges in the Southern Cone for our adjacent and emerging businesses, including Paramount+ and Pluto TV,” said JC Acosta.
“Darío has done an excellent job in recent years with our brands, maintaining Telefe’s leadership for eight consecutive years, improving the performance of our pay TV brands and transforming the business,” he added.
“I feel very honored to have been chosen to lead this new stage and that ViacomCBS has trusted me for it,” said Darío Turovelzky after the announcement.
“I will have the challenge of strengthening and increasing our business, while we continue to modify the quality content for our brands in the Southern Cone and providing the audience with the best entertainment experience,” he concluded.
As part of his management team, Guillermo Campanini, currently COO of ViacomCBS, Southern Cone, will report directly to Darío.
Turovelzky has more than 25 years of experience in the audiovisual industry and an extensive career in content creation, creativity, production, innovation and programming. In 1996 he joined Telefe, to produce and develop content.
He then forged an extensive career, where he was as executive producer on projects such as Popstars or The Amazing Race. He was part of RGB Entertainment, one of the most important producers in Latin America. There he was in charge of the Content Management, responsible for the development, production and programming of content in countries such as Brazil, Chile, Panama and Argentina.
In 2012, he returned to Telefe as Programming and Acquisition Manager, having the challenge of planning and strategically managing the production of fiction and entertainment content of the channel. In 2016, after the acquisition of Telefe by ViacomCBS, Darío was selected in a key role for the Southern Cone region business, including the company’s entire portfolio of brands, such as MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, Paramount Channel and Telefe, a load of global content.
A year and a half later, in 2018 we assumed new connections with the creation of Viacom International Studios (VIS), the development, production and distribution unit of ViacomCBS content for the whole world.
