The streaming platform Sweet TV has commissioned and will produce the Ukrainian version. In Mongolia, Hulegu Distribution has acquired The Traitors.

Leading independent distributor All3Media International announced two new territories for IDTV’s global format phenomenon, The Traitors, coming to Ukraine and Mongolia.

Already, 30 territories have ordered local format versions, and more than 50 territories have aired episodes of The Traitors through tape sales. For example, the UK has also acquired the Australian, New Zealand, and US editions.

In Ukraine, the streaming platform Sweet TV has been commissioned and will produce the Ukrainian version of the format. In Mongolia, The Traitors was acquired by Hulegu Distribution for production and broadcast on EduTV, IPTV Univision, and OTT LookTv. The Mongolian version marks The Traitors’ second Asian order, with an Indian adaptation to be launched on Prime Video.

Since its debut on RTL 4 in the Netherlands in 2021, IDTV’s psychological reality game show has followed a remarkable trajectory, becoming a global phenomenon.

With its addictive gameplay driven by betrayal, deception, and treachery, the show has captivated audiences worldwide. It has spawned adaptations in Europe, North America, Asia, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, with multiple return series and companion programs also commissioned.

Tape sales of The Traitors also demonstrate the brand’s international appeal, with numerous versions acquired on six continents.

Tape sales include Canada’s Bell Media licensing five international versions, including RTL’s Hungarian version (produced by Paprika Studios), and Australia, the US, UK, and Canada acquiring the Asian Academy Creative Award-winning New Zealand version (produced by South Pacific Pictures).

Louise Pedersen, CEO of All3Media International, commented, “We are delighted to share that The Traitors has reached these milestones, with 30 territories bringing local format versions to screen, over 35 commissioned adaptations and over 50 territories airing episodes of The Traitors through tape sales.”

According to Pedersen, The Traitors’ rapid global expansion would not have been possible without all of their brilliant production and broadcast partners. “So congratulations to all of them. Beyond the screen, The Traitors’ thriving licensing program includes award-winning games, best-selling books and the highly anticipated immersive experience.”

IDTV created and developed The Traitors (Dutch title: De Verraders) in collaboration with the RTL Creative Unit.

The Traitors is an intense psychological adventure in which betrayal and deception are the rules. Contestants are brought together in a grandiose environment to complete a series of challenges and win a cash prize.

The trick? Some contestants are chosen to be “The Traitors” and meet secretly to devise a plan to eliminate their fellow contestants, called “The Faithful.” The faithful must discover who the traitor is and expel him or her to win the cash prize. A traitor can take home the prize money if he makes it to the end.
