An industry hit by multiple causes met in Miami to seek creative, collaborative solutions to face adversity, while also finding reasons to celebrate the achievements, which still happen, regardless of the context, thanks to the drive and creativity of those who make up the Ibero-American audiovisual universe.

The wind and cold that greeted the executives of the audiovisual industry who met at the Hilton Downtown Miami for a new edition of Content Americas 2025 seemed symbolic, given the situation of the industry in Latin America – and much of the world – hit by a succession of economic events, both local and global.
However, within the Hilton facilities, whether in the ballroom or the market floor, the two busiest points of the event, the atmosphere was different. The reality is one, but creativity, the desire to work together and the drive are willing to weather the storm and reach a safe harbor.
A clear example is the launch of new companies, such as Ceci G., by Cecilia Gómez de la Torre (ex-Tondero) or new content, such as Canal 4 of Uruguay, which is working on its first original IP, Home Masters.
“If we can draw a conclusion from the market, it is that the entertainment industry is more alive than ever. Everyone wants to connect with people,” said César Sabroso, VP of Marketing, Affiliates and Corporate Communications at A+E Networks Latam.
One solution to economic problems is to look for the best tax incentives for new productions, something that has increased the presence of film commissions from different countries at trade events: at Content Americas, representatives from Argentina, Brazil and Colombia, among others, could be found.
Globo made history with I’m Still Here
The Brazilian giant Globo, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary, was one of the main protagonists of the event, announcing a good number of agreements, to which it added the one signed with Gaumont to co-produce a series that explores the universe of haute couture. The project will also be produced by Conspiração and developed by Ventre Studios.
However, even this announcement was overshadowed by the big event of the day: the historic nomination of I’m Still Here, the Globoplay original, for the Best Film award at the 2025 Oscars. The film, which also has nominations for Best Foreign Film and for actress Fernanda Torres (winner of the Golden Globe a few weeks ago), became the first Brazilian feature film to compete in the top category of the Academy Awards.
“It’s a very important day. It’s a great day for Globoplay and Globo, but more so for Brazil,” said Angela Colla, director of International Business and Co-productions at Globo.
“It’s a very special moment for us and for Brazilian cinema. The film is also a commercial success, the highest grossing in Brazil,” added Alex Medeiros, director of Drama, Documentaries and Films at Globoplay.
European drama raises the bar
In the world of dramatic content, whether in long or short format, European productions continue to be a high-level bet for regional buyers.
Atresmedia, present both with its distribution area, Atresmedia Sales, and with the atresplayer platform, was present in the market with its latest news, such as the science fiction thriller Santuario, and announced what is coming next: Física o Química, nueva generación and Mariliendre.
Of course, Turkish telenovelas are that premium content that continues to be a trend in the region. Ekin Koyuncu, Director of Global Distribution & Partnerships at OGM Universe, was very pleased with the pace of meetings held and the response to their current big hit, Six of Us: “I firmly believe that the story will touch the hearts of the masses in Latin America. The response from clients has been incredible and we are very happy. We look forward to announcing new deals very soon,” she revealed.
Global Agency also enjoyed a very good event with titles such as One Love and My Mother’s Tale, as well as Inter Medya enjoying the interest generated by Corazón negro, the potential of Hilos de vida and the deals for its deep catalogue of feature films: “We are very happy to be able to announce that TVN of Panama acquired 15 Turkish films that will soon be seen on screen,” said Beatriz Cea Okan, VP and Director of Sales and Acquisitions.
Elif Turna, Mediahub Sales Manager, added to their catalog of dramas, which includes Broken Lives and Alaca, soon to debut in Ecuador, the well-known Stop: Border Control, which will have a new season.
Animation demands a screen
The Content Americas market floor expanded its space and included an animation pavilion in this edition where several companies presented their latest developments, including Animotion, with its star series, The Fixies: “We are in the production of the sixth season of the series,” shared Maria Makedonskaya, Head of Content Sales at Animotion Media Group. “We have also brought our new IP, Detective Finnick.”
The Basque company Gookapi made its entire offer available to buyers and potential partners, which includes an interactive content platform, with IPs from the universe of the Elves, with its differentiated applications and products for the consumer, such as story books: “This is the first market that we bring the elves. We have the series to license with interactive versions that only work on our platform, but we made them in a linear version to be able to license them,” said Marianella Gomis, director of Project Development and Acquisitions.
