TTV 20 Years: Gabriela Rodríguez

TTVNews celebrates its first 20 years, inviting friends and industry colleagues to share their personal experiences over the past two decades. Gabriela Rodriguez, EVP of Content at R Media, answers, “Where were you 20 years ago?”

This 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of TTVNews, a big reason to celebrate for the group. It is consolidating itself as one of the go-to media platforms in the audiovisual industry in Latin America.

To mark the occasion, we’ve invited friends and colleagues to share their experiences, challenges, and lessons learned over the last twenty years in this industry.

This time, Gabriela Rodriguez, EVP of Content at R Media, answers, “Where were you 20 years ago?”

Where were you 20 years ago?

Twenty years ago, I was the marketing and sales manager at Cable Color, responsible for acquiring international channels for the cable company.

What was your first international market?

In 2008, I transitioned to become the Commercialization Manager at Grupo OE Media. One of its key pillars, Channel 11, welcomed me into this beautiful industry and allowed me to attend my first international fair: the 2009 LA Screenings.

What growth opportunities do you see for the industry?

I couldn’t pinpoint just one area of opportunity in the audiovisual industry looking toward the future; several need to be addressed efficiently. One of them is achieving monetization, not just through traditional means, but by creating new ways to connect with audiences that are attractive to clients. This will help strengthen offerings and achieve a comprehensive 360-degree, multiplatform reach.

Additionally, each territory’s unique experience becomes a competitive advantage that must be leveraged. Local audience needs in areas such as news, entertainment, and all relevant societal content present an opportunity for monetization. However, it’s not just about sales; it’s about maintaining audience loyalty, fostering that connection that allows for continuous growth, and staying relevant in the globalized content market.
