The new episodes of ViX’s original series feature Angelique Boyer, Bárbara de Regil, Mar Sordo, Azul Guaita, Scarlet Gruber, Yare Santana, Cassandra Sánchez Navarro and Eileen Yáñez.

ViX announced today the start of production of the third season of its hit original series, Mujeres asesinas, in Mexico City.

The new season features eight single episodes starring Angelique Boyer (El extraño retorno de Diana Salazar), Bárbara de Regil (LaLola), Mar Sordo (Isla brava), Azul Guaita (La mujer del diablo, Scarlet Gruber (Ellas soy yo: Gloria Trevi), Yare Santana (Y llegaron de noche), Cassandra Sánchez Navarro (Consuelo) and Eileen Yáñez (Consuelo). These talented actresses will play complex characters who will face extreme situations that will lead them to make a tragic decision that will change their lives forever.

The new episodes will continue to explore the stories of women from diverse backgrounds, united by a tragic similarity: they were cornered into making the worst decision of their lives, murder. Themes such as domestic violence, humiliation and manipulation are part of their stories, while the series seeks to humanize them, showing their struggles, fears and desires.

“The third season of this acclaimed anthology will maintain the legacy of success of the previous seasons and become an audience favorite, not only because of the renowned actresses who will bring complex characters to life, but also because of these powerful stories that are brought to the screen by the outstanding writers and directors who are part of the series,” said Vincenzo Gratteri, senior vice president of Development at ViX.

Produced by The Mall, the third season of Mujeres asesinas features scripts by renowned screenwriter Marisa Grinstein, author of the book of the same name that has served as the basis for the creation of more than 100 original episodes, under the direction of Javier Solar and Lorena Padilla and executive produced by Jorge Bermúdez, Manuel Badía and Luis Luisillo Miguel.

“The stories of ‘Mujeres Asesinas’ are inspired by real events. They are backed by important investigative journalism, and we were honored to have Marisa Grinstein, who visited several prisons in Mexico, to tell these stories with ViX. The intention behind telling them is to raise awareness about the current situation in our country. To portray the lack of support mechanisms in our society and to highlight that there is a lot of work to be done to reduce the abuse of women, who are the center of our society. We work closely with La Cana who creates opportunities for women in prison,” said Jorge Bermúdez, executive producer.
