According to Goldschmied, TVN’s challenge is to continue producing original content, and during Mipcom, they participated in important conversations to understand where the industry is headed.

TVN Chile has revamped its programming by incorporating shows like Ahora Caigo and Mi nombre es. This gives the Chilean network the opportunity to be competitive again in the afternoon and prime time slots. The challenge ahead is to continue betting on original production.
This is what Javier Goldschmied, TVN Chile’s Programming Director, told ttvnews. “We’re thrilled to be producing entertainment shows. We have a very competitive afternoon slot with Ahora Caigo, hosted by Daniel Fuenzalida, which has made us think about what other entertainment we can bring to our audiences,” he said.
Continuing along these lines, a few weeks ago, they premiered Mi nombre es, a talent format that features new urban singers and impersonators. “Chile is a country full of talent, and they’ve come to this show, making it possible for TVN once again to become a part of Chilean homes with entertainment programming. We’re pleased about that because TVN is back in the prime time competition, with a very successful afternoon lineup that starts with Carmen Gloria a tu servicio, followed by Ahora Caigo, then the news, and finally prime time.”
For Goldschmied, TVN’s challenge is to keep producing. “We have a competitive space with our productions and are good at producing. I think pre-packaged content works for certain time slots. Still, I feel we are responsible for bringing original productions into homes, something that different family members can watch. I believe that’s our main challenge.”
The Programming Director also mentioned that while they would like to create fiction, now is not the time. “We’re currently balancing the channel, but we’re happy with what we’re doing, and it’s essential to keep creating, to show that TVN has a heart and is alive. Additionally, we offer entertainment, the number one informative channel on cable TV, and a top-rated children’s channel that is also very competitive. We face a multi-platform challenge. We have an ecosystem of content we need to take to where the future is heading. Likewise, we have FAST channels, a huge archive, and we’re working on building this for the next five years,” he noted.
Regarding their participation in Mipcom, Goldschmied highlighted, “We attend these markets to have conversations about where formats are headed, what new things are coming, where fiction productions are going, and especially the discussions around FAST. We have a multi-platform ecosystem, so generating conversations about where content is going, understanding what the industry is doing, and contributing to those discussions is crucial.”
