Known for the great variety of their catalog, both in genres and territories, Eccho Rights was present at Mipcom 2024 to display their fiction novelties for the international market, starting with their big star for the market: Safe Harbor, which had its own screening during the market in Cannes.

“It’s the new series from the co-creator of Ozark, Mark Williams,” Violeta Trincado Murugarren, Sales Coordinator for Latam and Iberia at Eccho Rights, began in a conversation with ttvnews.

“It has an incredible cast, with A-list actors,” highlighted the executive, referring to Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones, Rogue Heroes), Charlie Murphy (Peaky Blinders, Happy Valley, Halo) and Jack Gleeson (Game of Thrones, Sex Education), who play the main characters.

The series follows gifted hacker Tobias (Allen) and his ambitious best friend Marco (Lakemeier), attempting to crack into the tech billionaires club. Marco and Tobias are plucked from quiet darkness and plunged headfirst into the chaos of organized crime when they cross paths with the Irish mob. Leading the family’s operations in Holland are Sloane (Murphy) and her brother Farrell (Gleeson) who enlist Tobias’ and Marco’s services to hack into the security system of Rotterdam harbor — Europe’s largest shipping port — in order to secure the undetected deliveries of drug shipments.

“The story is very good. It reminds me a bit of The Gentleman. Two people who get into a world that is not theirs and it changes their lives, of course,” said the executive.

“We also have another new feature, which is a short series for the Turkish platform TOD, called Beneath the Surface,” added the executive. “The first season has 10 episodes and it is a police thriller that since it was launched on the platform has been number one.”

The show stars one of Turkish drama’s most recognizable faces, Hazal Kaya, as police officer Cihan, who finds herself grappling with a professional and personal crisis when her father is murdered. Compounding her dilemma, she is prohibited from investigating his death herself. Cihan’s growing romantic feelings for her colleague assigned to the case, Metin (played by Çağlar Ertuğrul), become even more complicated when Cihan’s sisters emerge as prime suspects.

“And in the end, it is not known if it was one of them, because the series ends its first season with the crime unsolved,” she said.

Finally, among the new titles for the market, the executive highlighted Fallen, a supernatural new adult series from Silver Reel, Night Train Media and coproduced by Brazil’s largest video streaming platform Globoplay.

“It has just premiered on Globoplay, who were part of the project from the beginning. The results were very good. It has also already aired on Sky Germany,” she revealed.

Fallen follows the story of Luce, a young woman who is sent to a cult-like rehab facility called Sword & Cross to serve time for a crime she cannot remember committing. Among the other residents she encounters the enigmatic Daniel (Blom) and exasperating but irresistible Cam (Innes), all guests under the watchful eye of the sinister chief doctor Howson (Siddig), and devout twin sisters Miriam and Sophia (Niles). Luce must untangle the mystery of who she is and why she has a connection to Daniel that goes far back beyond their time in the institution. This is a universal love story about a woman who is unaware of the strange powers she wields, and her journey to uncover her true strength.
