First, the Golden Bird Prize, an award given to works and individuals who have made a significant mark on the drama industry, goes to director Park Chan-wook. Park Chan-wook, co-director and executive producer of The Sympathizer (HBO), attracts worldwide attention with his signature Mise-en-Scène and provocative messages. The series follows the journey of a mixed-race Vietnamese man seeking asylum in the United States in the 1970s and explores the conflicts he faces between two civilizations and two ideologies.
