The channel is celebrating almost two decades since it first launched in the US and Puerto Rico.

ViendoMovies, the pay-TV movie channel owned by SomosTV (a company chaired by Luis Villanueva and part of Somos Group), which programs the best movies produced in Spanish, 24 hours a day and without commercial breaks, celebrates in September the 18th anniversary of being launched in the United States and Puerto Rico. The channel offers its audience a selection of the best of the Seventh Arts from different Spanish-speaking countries and provided an outlet for contemporary Spanish-language cinema in territories which had then few opportunities to enjoy high-quality productions, box office hits, shown in theaters. Since its launch in 2006, ViendoMovies has been characterized by a premium presence, competitive with the best of pay television, programming exclusive productions, shown to the audience for the first time in the channel. ViendoMovies is distributed in the main cable, satellite, and telecommunications companies in the United States and Puerto Rico.

ViendoMovies’ film selection and programming strategy is based on offering only productions made for the big screen (theatrical), where the best budgets, the most attractive stories, and the best talent are concentrated. The channel does not show films made for television or low-budget films (“B movies”), having become a prestigious window, reinforced by the attention it pays to Spanish-language film events and its talent. The channel’s regular programming includes cycles dedicated to acting talent and celebrating special dates of the Latino community. ViendoMovies is produced entirely in high definition and with closed captions available in English and Spanish.

This anniversary month, ViendoMovies celebrates in style with a cycle of outstanding actors on Sundays at 9:00 pm. This cycle features Lina de Lima (Chile, 2019), with Magaly Solier; No Matarás (Spain, 2020), with Mario Casas; Hasta el Fin de Los Tiempos (Mexico, 2023), with Bruno Bichir; La Chica del Alquiler (Venezuela, 2023), with Daniela Alvarado; and La Odisea de Los Giles (Argentina, 2019), with Ricardo Darín. Similarly, the channel premieres as well the films Rafaela (Dominican Republic, 2021), directed by Francisco Rodríguez and starring Yudith Rodríguez and winner of 8 awards at industry festivals; La Vida en el Silencio (Mexico, 2022), directed by Rodrigo Arnaz, starring Juan Manuel Bernal; and 30 Noches con mi Ex (Argentina, 2022), directed by Adrián Suar with performances by Adrián Suar and Pilar Gamboa (winner of the Best Performance Award at the Sur Awards).

The SomosTV channel closes this important month with the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and Mexican Independence Day, events that include special programming for these significant dates for the ViendoMovies audience in general and for the largest community in the Hispanic market.
