ZEE Content Sales and VIP 2000 TV announce the start of shooting on their groundbreaking co-production, Valentina, Mi Amor Especial, a modern Latin American telenovela that advocates for autism acceptance. Filming began in July in the picturesque region of Jalisco, Mexico, with key scenes shot in the charming town of Chiquilistlan.

Valentina’s adoptive mother sheltered her from society in the small town of Chiquilistlán, where she excelled academically. Moving to the big city of Guadalajara after her mother dies in an accident will be difficult, as she encounters the worst and the best of humanity: the blossoming of an unknown emotion called love, new friends, and the envy and jealousy of those who choose not to accept her.
The project’s general director is experienced International Emmy Award winner Lilo Vilaplana, who has participated in hits such as El Capo. The showrunner is Mayu Muci, producer of the hit Netflix series Go Vive a tu Manera; local production is handled by general producer Sofia Garrido, who has a successful track record of collaborating with VIP 2000 TV on numerous IPs in recent years.
Valentina, Mi Amor Especial is being filmed entirely on location across more than ten unique locations in Guadalajara, including a stunning ranch that plays a pivotal role in the series.
Roxana Rotundo, CEO of VIP 2000 TV, commented that the series can potentially become a potent global intellectual property. “It offers drama, romance, comedy, and a compelling message of acceptance. The story is universal, we would present Valentina to Europe at Mipcom, to Latin America at MipCancun. By those markets, the filming of all 60 episodes will be completed. This telenovela can work very well in broadcast TV, cable TV, and streaming,” he said.
Manjyot Sandhu, SVP – Head of Global Syndication (ZEE), highlighted his excitement to present at Mipcom a globally engaging series with a message of diversity and inclusion for worldwide audiences. “Valentina is a romantic story filled with positive messages of acceptance and encouragement, but will keep viewers on the edge of their seats thanks to its fast-paced denouement of surprising twists and turns.”
The series features renowned Mexican actress Cynthia Klitbo, who plays the mother of the main character, Valentina. Valentina is played by Rebeca Herrera, known for her role in Netflix’s Donde Hubo Fuego.
The male lead is played by Mauricio Novoa, an up-and-coming Mexican actor known for his performances in recent telenovelas filmed in Miami.
The telenovela brings together talent from Mexico City and Guadalajara. The cast includes Macarena Oz, Katie Barberi, Ana Karen Coy, and Daniel Medrero from Mexico City. From Guadalajara, Eduardo Villalpando, Michelle Santane, Azucena Evans, Marco Orozco and Edgar Ruvalcaba, among others.
