Globo’s hit drama will premiere next month.
With a successful partnership that has already brought the telenovelas Pantanal and Land of Desire to Paraguay, Globo will bring Rebirth to the free TV channel Telefuturo. The production premieres on August. Based on the work of Benedito Ruy Barbosa, Rebirth is written by Bruno Luperi with artistic direction by Gustavo Fernandez, the same team responsible for Pantanal. In its first 60 episodes, the telenovela reached over 121 million Brazilians, with an average of 30 million viewers per episode.
“To be part of a telenovela that is going to be launched internationally is an honor, a pleasure. Because this story is an icon of Brazilian dramaturgy and will reach other countries, other souls. It is a universal story that, despite being about our country, our people, everyone will identify with”, comments actor Antonio Calloni (A Trick of Fate), who plays Colonel Belarmino, one of the villains in Rebirth.
In the plot, after making a pact with the Jequitibá, an imposing native tree of the Atlantic Forest, José Inocêncio, a character played in the first phase by Humberto Carrão (All The Flowers) and later by Marcos Palmeira (Pantanal), becomes known as a mythical figure for becoming the most successful farmer in the region due to his successes as a cocoa producer. At a young age, he wins the love of Maria Santa (Duda Santos, from The Path). The overwhelming passion between them results in four children: José Augusto (Renan Monteiro), José Bento (Marcello Melo Jr, from Dissident Archangel), José Venâncio (Rodrigo Simas, from Pride and Passion), and the youngest, João Pedro (Juan Paiva, from In Your Place), the only one who did not have the opportunity to grow up with his mother, as she died giving birth to him. The tragedy causes José Inocêncio to become enraged, blaming João Pedro for the death of his great love.
Indifference and resentment mark the relationship between the patriarch and the youngest son throughout their lives. As if the past wasnt enough, years later, the arrival of the mysterious Mariana (Theresa Fonseca) will test all these emotions when father and son fall in love with the same woman. The situation rekindles feelings that had been dormant or previously unknown to both of them.
The cast also includes names such as Vladimir Brichta (A Mothers Love), Juliana Paes (Pantanal), Irandhir Santos (Pantanal), Enrique Diaz (A Mothers Love), Sophie Charlotte (All The Flowers), among others.

Land of Desire, for example, premiered in Paraguay as the rating leader.
