Fernando Villena will direct the unscripted series, which is co-produced by Summa Sports & Entertainment, Rockanfella, and Scarpetta Media.
Ntertain Studios, producer of Latin stories such as Los Montaner and La Firma, announced that it has begun developing and producing a documentary series on the career of Colombian F1 legend Juan Pablo Montoya.
The unscripted series will be directed by Fernando Villena (The Golden Boy, The Alpinist) and produced by a team of acclaimed talent, including Lex Borrero and Santiago Zapata (Monos, Los Montaner), in co-production with Mariano Zabaleta (Summa Sports & Entertainment), Dubraska Arias (Rockanfella), Jonathan Wul and Hernan Salama (Scarpetta Media).
The project delves into the accomplishments of Montoya, who has broken records in several top racing divisions, including CART, IndyCar, F3000, F1 and NASCAR. Beyond this, the documentary will also show aspects of his life after retirement and his dedication as a mentor to his son’s budding career.
“Sharing my story with Ntertain is a privilege. I think it’s great for people to know where I’ve come from, what I’ve done, and what I’ve learned. I hope it will inspire not only racing fans but anyone who believes in pursuing their dreams against all odds,” said Juan Pablo Montoya.
As part of Ntertain Studios’ strategic expansion into various film and television genres, and its commitment to expand Latino representation, the series was proudly announced at an exclusive, invite-only cocktail party held at Soho Beach House in Miami on Wednesday, May 1 prior to the 2024 Miami Grand Prix.
“As we expand our catalog into sports, Ntertain Studios continues to highlight dynamic stories of Latino talent that resonate globally,” said Lex Borrero, Ntertain Studios CEO and executive producer. “Juan Pablo Montoya’s journey is not just about racing; it is a powerful narrative of dedication and legacy.”
“Juan Pablo Montoya was my introduction to motorsport and that of many Colombians, but what has always inspired me most about him is his never-give-up attitude and his resolve to succeed against all odds. This story about perseverance and commitment to a craft will inspire audiences of all ages and nationalities,” added Santiago Zapata, executive producer.
