Atresmedias fiction continues to reap recognition beyond our borders. This time, with Sueños de Libertad (Dreams of Freedom), the Antena 3 series that has been triumphant since its debut in Spain and has now attracted international attention by making its way onto one of the most exclusive lists: the prestigious consultancy The WIT has selected Sueños de Libertad (Dreams of Freedom) as one of the most outstanding fictions internationally.
The announcement was made today, at an event held in Cannes, as part of MIPTV; one of the key and most anticipated events in the international market.
The WIT has announced the names of the fictions that make up its exclusive selection during the event The Wit Fresh TV Fiction Confereces. A global list that includes Sueños de Libertad (Dreams of Freedom), certifying the great success of the Antena 3 series.
The series is distributed internationally by Atresmedia TV International Sales, who are present at MIiptv 2024 at the Audiovisual From Spain booth (R7.H11).
Sueños de libertad (Dreams of Freedom) is a massive hit in viewership and is the most-watched show on television in Spain. It closed the month of March as the absolute leader (13.8%), surpassing its two main rivals by +5.4 points.
The series achieves 2.1 million unique viewers per episode and over 1.3 million average viewers per episode. Additionally, it also succeeds in delayed viewing with an average of +260,000 viewers.
Sueños de Libertad (Dreams of Freedom) stars Natalia Sánchez, Alain Hernández, Dani Tatay and Nancho Novo and tells the story of Begoña Montes, a woman trapped in a toxic marriage, who searches for the longed-for freedom in Spain in 1958. Love, rivalry, family, friendship… in an optimistic, hopeful story full of secrets.
It is produced by Atresmedia TV in collaboration with Diagonal (Banijay Iberia). Montse García, Jaume Banacolocha and Joan Noguera are the executive producers. Joan Noguera also oversees the direction. Eulalia Carrillo oversees script coordination.
This is not the first time that The WIT has highlighted one of Atresmedias series in its list of outstanding fiction, having already done so recently with Las Noches de Tefía (Nights in Tefía) and ‘Rabia’ (Rage) in 2023 and with El tiempo entre costuras (The Time in Between), the series that marked a milestone in Spanish fiction, including it in the select list of “Fresh TV Fiction” in 2013. The same year they also selected El Internado (The Boarding School) as one of the best series of the last 50 years, they also counted Mar de plástico (Plastic Sea) in 2015 and El Incidente (The Incident) and Pulsaciones (Lifeline) in 2016, La Valla (The Barrier) and Veneno in 2020.
