The event, which has its main venue in Monaco, is being held for the first time in South America, and it remains to be seen whether it will return to the region in 2025.
More than 400 participants and 60 new companies attended the first day of Sportel Rendez-Vous in Buenos Aires. This is the first time the event has been held in South America, and it opens the door to new business between European and Latin American companies that have gathered in this relevant sports market.
To find out the balance of the first day, we talked to Laurent Puons, CEO of Monaco Mediax in charge of the Sportel brand. He said he was very happy to be in Buenos Aires for the first edition of Sportel Rendez-Vous in South America. “It’s a new opportunity for the European community to meet the South American community and the rest of the world,” he said.
According to Puons, although their main and most important event is based in Monaco, with more than two thousand attendees per day, they are pleased with what they achieved in this edition in Buenos Aires. “With more than 400 participants from 31 countries, 45% of the participation is Latin, and the most important thing is that more than 60 new companies attended Sportel for the first time,” he said.
For Sportel’s CEO, having new companies participating in the event is always a new business opportunity for the rest of his community. “I am sure that all the participants of this event will do very good business and I hope they will also sign contracts. Our goal is to provide our community with excellent business, excellent networking. And it will be the case, as you can see, the exhibition floor is full,” he assured.
Regarding the possibility of returning to Buenos Aires in 2025, Puons indicated that he would make the decision after this event. “I am convinced that it is a very good destination to hold an event like this, but I cannot say that we will return in 2025. I need to evaluate after the events and analyze the financial aspects. I will make the decision right after that,” he said.
