Reed Midem announced Mipcom 2020 will host the inaugural Global Upfronts, a new segment in which up to 14 studios will showcase its new content.
The 2020 edition of Mipcom will feature a new segment promoted by Reed Midem and whose purpose is to provide a space for the main industry studios to present their new content: the Global Upfronts.
The event will feature up to 14 studios, which will offer a 20-minute presentation for buyers to showcase their new programming, including a combination of finished series and series that are in production or in development.
According to the Mipcom organization, the goal is «to provide buyers with a new look at the most anticipated new programming from the world’s leading studios in all genres.»
Initially, the Global Upfronts were to take place at the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals, but with the cancellation of Mipcom Rendezvous Cannes, they will now be 100% online.
All3media, A+E Networks, BBC Studios and ZDF Enterprises were the first studios to confirm their participation in the 2020 Global Upfronts.
A short time later they were joined by ViacomCBS (ViacomCBS International Studios and ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group) along with Discovery Inc., and Newen.
«We are thrilled to be able to bring programming from major studios to buyers around the world via the Mipcom 2020 Global Upfronts. In these times, as always, we are committed to supporting the industry and are delighted to present this extraordinary slate of showcases,» said Laurine Garaude, Director of Reed MIDEM’s Television Division.
