The company’s international lineup spans creator-driven IP, family entertainment, Asian stories, anime and technology-led storytelling, with titles including MechWest, Tulipop: Magical Seasons and A Banquet for Hungry Ghosts.
Toonz Media Group is presenting a slate at Mipcom 2026 that reflects the company’s increasingly diversified role in the international content business, spanning IP development, production and co-production, worldwide distribution, international sales, localization and digital audience development.
Featuring MechWest, Tulipop: Magical Seasons, A Banquet for Hungry Ghosts, The Taste of Water and Rokuro, alongside titles including Big Foot and Carlos and Pierre the Pigeon Hawk, the slate brings together creator-driven IP, family entertainment, anime, genre storytelling and feature animation.
More broadly, it reflects Toonz’s approach to building content partnerships across markets while exploring new technologies, production methodologies and routes to global audiences.
“Our Mipcom slate reflects the strength and diversity of the stories coming out of Toonz today,” said Gulshan David, VP – Feature Film, Toonz Media Group. “We are bringing projects with distinctive creative identities and strong international potential, while working closely with partners to take these stories to audiences across markets. For us, it is about combining compelling storytelling with the right global strategy to build lasting value for our content and our partners.”
The slate demonstrates this breadth through a range of partnerships and business models. MechWest, created by animation veteran Dave Gallagher and produced by AnimSchool Studios, is an independently developed CG action-adventure series that has built an audience of more than 11 million lifetime views and received multiple industry honors. Following its worldwide distribution agreement with Toonz, the series represents the company’s focus on identifying distinctive creator-led properties and creating opportunities for them in international markets.
Toonz’s feature film portfolio adds another dimension to its international offering. Tulipop: Magical Seasons, a 70-minute family feature from Icelandic studio Tulipop Studios, is being represented by Toonz as international sales agent. The film expands the company’s offering in family entertainment while strengthening its relationships with international producers and rights holders.
Alongside Tulipop, Toonz is bringing A Banquet for Hungry Ghosts, an animated horror anthology co-produced with Robot Playground Media and involving creative and production partners across Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, India and Ireland. Adapted from Ying Chang Compestine’s acclaimed book, the feature draws on Asian folklore and cultural storytelling while using a hybrid 2D/3D animation approach for an international audience.
The company’s focus on Asian stories and global collaboration is also evident in Rokuro, a Japanese anime adventure that Toonz is bringing to Hindi-speaking audiences through its Chotoonz TV platform. The localization strategy demonstrates the company’s interest not only in acquiring and distributing international properties, but also in identifying opportunities to connect them with new audiences through language, platform and market-specific strategies.
At the same time, Toonz is exploring how emerging technology can expand the creative and production possibilities of animation. The Taste of Water, its co-production with Tokyo-based Supersub LLC, combines live-action footage captured across Japan with AI-assisted rotoscoping and 3D Gaussian Splatting to create anime-influenced imagery.
The project reflects Toonz’s willingness to experiment with new production approaches while exploring storytelling around memory, culture, emotion and human experience.
This approach is also shaping Toonz’s distribution strategy. Rather than applying a single model across its portfolio, the company is assessing each property based on its creative proposition, audience potential and the partnerships required to unlock its next stage of growth, spanning worldwide distribution, international sales, co-production, financing, localization and platform-specific opportunities, including a growing presence across YouTube, VOD, telecom partnerships and FAST channels.
“Our slate brings together very different kinds of projects, from independently developed action-adventure and family features to culturally rooted Asian stories and technology-driven filmmaking. What connects them is the potential to travel across markets,” commented Anish Narayankutty, Director of Content Distribution and Digital Media Networks. “The opportunity today is to think about an IP beyond its first window. Audiences move fluidly between broadcast, streaming, FAST, VOD and digital platforms, so our role is to identify those opportunities early and build the right partnerships and distribution strategy around each property.”
Alongside its new international projects, Toonz is also showcasing Big Foot and Carlos and Pierre the Pigeon Hawk, further strengthening a portfolio that spans preschool and family entertainment, feature animation, anime, action-adventure and genre storytelling.
Toonz’s Mipcom presence comes as the company continues to expand its role as a global animation and content partner, working with creators, producers, studios and rights holders across territories. Its growing portfolio combines original and independently developed properties with international co-productions and third-party titles, supported by capabilities across production, distribution, sales, localization and digital audience development.
At Mipcom, Toonz is meeting with broadcasters, streaming platforms, distributors, producers, financiers and other industry partners to explore worldwide distribution, international sales, co-production, financing, localization and strategic partnerships across its portfolio.
