After the news of the recent alliance closed with the Uruguayan production company Cimarrón, StoryLab has a 2023 full of projects, including original series, adaptations and feature films

The news of the new strategic alliance between StoryLab Argentina and Cimarrón from Uruguay preceded by just a few days the arrival of the Argentine production company to the new edition of LA Screenings Independents, which is taking place this week at the Fairmont Century Plaza hotel in Los Angeles.

“We have just closed a strategic alliance with Cimarrón. The agreement has a three-year term and the objective is to empower both companies,” Eugenia Link, Head of International Co-Production & Business Development at StoryLab, told ttvnews. “StoryLab will be the provider of content and its development, and Cimarrón will use its production and production muscle.”

“The idea is to take advantage of Uruguay as a production hub and take advantage of tax incentives, which are very competitive for the industry today,” she added. “We are defining the projects to face together, but it will probably be a feature film and two fiction series.”

Link, who joined the international business unit of StoryLab at the beginning of the year, stressed the dynamics of the production company in 2023: “We are focused on the development of two original series and the adaptation of an Argentine novel. Also in the development of two feature films: a noir thriller and a comedy, very powerful, but I still can’t reveal the names”.

“This first semester of the year, from January to this part, we were working very hard indoors, with scriptwriters, in the development of these projects,” Link explained. “We spent a lot of time until we felt that the bibles were in the place we needed for the story to be seen and told in the most attractive way possible, always taking care of the writing.”

“We’re only now knocking on doors with those projects looking for both co-producing and screen partners,” she concluded.

Eugenia Link, Head of International Co-Production & Business Development at StoryLab at the Argentine production company, spoke with ttvnews at the event to present the company’s new stories and the search for new partners in the region.

With several projects in development and many others in the pipeline, Argentine production company StoryLab traveled to Miami to participate in Content Americas, where it’s searching for new alliances to promote its stories internationally.

“I’m here to look for potential co-production partners, to try to create alliances,” Eugenia Link, StoryLab’s Head of International Co-Production & Business Development, told ttvnews.

“My goal is to understand what each of the stories we are working with needs and find those things that will add value to the story and boost it for its release to the market. Not only solidify the alliances we already have but also generate new ones”, she added.

And if there is something that StoryLab does not lack, it is a variety of stories to forge these alliances. “We have many production projects. The goal is to prioritize and see which of them will be closer to seeing the light. But it is also to be in permanent contact with authors and receive new ideas, incorporating new projects,” she explained.

“We have a lot of creative talent in LatAm and the idea is to be in contact with all of them and see what possibilities there are for the future,” she added.

Thus, the content portfolio that the production company presents these days at Content Americas is quite diverse. “Of course we bring thrillers, which is the genre that StoryLab has specialized in in recent years, but also a more acid comedy with a very strong female character. Also a romantic comedy and a dramedy. We have a wide range of content and genres, strong products with potential for different screens,” Link explained.

“We want to be in contact with other producers to generate alliances, always keeping an eye on the changes in the industry. We are interested in representing all types of audience and including different voices in the projects,” said the executive.

“That’s the 2023 we have ahead of us, a lot of movement and a lot of challenges,” she concluded.
