Produced by Luis Cabrera, from Los Angeles

Alongside the ups and downs of the audiovisual industry and the technological evolution that gives rise to new viewing and production trends, Record TV Network is experiencing a period of change. A strong commitment to reinvention and growth has led to new initiatives and changes for the Brazilian giant.

“Record TV Network is going through a very positive reformulation,” began Delmar Andrade, director of Record TV, in a conversation with ttvnews from the latest edition of LA Screenings in Los Angeles.

As major verticals, the executive highlighted, on the one hand, a significant investment in sports, “the largest” they have made to date. “We have national football in Brazil, and that has given us very positive returns,” he explained.

On the other hand, there is, of course, the production area, where Seriella’s mega biblical productions join Record TV’s impressive library of titles, led this time by one of its biggest projects: the return of The Slave Isaura.

La esclava Isaura

“The big move we made in 2025-2026 was the complete remastering of The Slave Isaura,” the executive emphasized. “We didn’t just improve it. We changed everything.”

Originally premiered with great success in 2004, the telenovela returned in 2025 in a completely revamped version, with 5.1 Dolby audio and image quality that jumped from SD to 4K.

“We changed the color, we changed some chapters, we changed the audio. We invested between six and eight hours per episode, and the quality of the product is much better than we expected,” Andrade explained.

“So today, what we’re looking for in the market is the return of Isaura,” he continued. “It’s a telenovela that we sold in 74 countries, and Globo sold it to over 80 others.”

While the new version of The Slave Isaura premiered in 2025, this is the first time Record has presented it to the international market, and they are already seeing a very positive reception from the industry.

La esclava Isaura

“We are surprised,” the executive revealed. “The vast majority of clients who have already aired Isaura with us in Latin America and Central America are extremely excited to re-air it. Furthermore, Isaura is the only telenovela on Record TV that has four different endings. Therefore, many of those who already aired it with the original ending can now watch it with a different ending, which will create a new theme, a new visual and emotional impact for viewers.”

The Slave Isaura could be the first of several telenovelas to return to the screen in a remastered version, as Record TV is already working on its next project of this kind.

“We are already thinking about doing it with a new telenovela, as well as a classic telenovela called Esas mujeres. We are also going to remaster it so that we have the only two classic telenovelas on Record TV ready to go,” the executive anticipated.

“This is an extremely interesting time of reformulation for us; of trying new things like the return to soccer and presenting the new version of Isaura,” he concluded.

Keshet International, the global content producer and distributor, has licensed its hit gameshow format Boom! to Brazilian production company Boxfish for a brand-new local adaptation for Record in Brazil.

Hosted by one of the country’s best-known entertainers, Tom Cavalcante (Show do Tom, and Record’s Acerte ou Caia!), Boxfish’s version of Boom! will bring the high-stakes trivia format to millions of viewers across Brazil, marking the latest international adaptation of the globally successful show. This 15×90’ version for Record will feature two teams in a head-to-head competition, each lead by a celebrity contestant competing alongside their friends or families to win R$100,000. Boom! is set to premiere in Brazil on Record on 8 March.

Created by Ido Rosenblum and Keshet Broadcasting for Keshet 12, Boom! sees teams of players compete to tackle a series of high-pressure trivia challenges. Each question presents multiple possible answers represented by coloured wires, and contestants must cut the correct ones before the countdown clock runs out — with every decision bringing them closer to victory or elimination.

Kelly Wright, Managing Director of Distribution at Keshet International, says: “We’re delighted to be bringing Boom! to Brazil with our fantastic partner, Boxfish, to create this game show night on Record. We have been selling Boom! globally for 12 years now. This ever-popular format never fails to deliver a compelling mix of tension, trivia and surprises.”

Diego Guebel, President at Boxfish, comments: “Boom! is a brilliantly simple but incredibly engaging format that keeps contestants and audiences on the edge of their seats, and we’re excited to work with Keshet International to deliver a version tailored to the energy and personality of Brazil.”

Marcelo Silva, artistic vice-president at Record, adds: “Boom! is an international phenomenon, celebrated for blending knowledge, suspense, and entertainment in a thrilling and irresistible way for audiences. With the charismatic Tom Cavalcante leading the show, we are confident that this new adaptation will be one of the major highlights of our lineup and is set to captivate viewers across the entire country.”

Boom! has become one of Keshet International’s most successful formats, with 22 international adaptations produced to the end of 2025, including in Spain (8 seasons for Atresmedia’s Antena 3 – see below), Italy (3 seasons for Discovery), Hungary (3 seasons for TV2), Vietnam (2 seasons for VTV), Colombia (2 seasons for Caracol), Iran (2 seasons for IRIB TV3) and the US (Fox).

The format continues to travel worldwide, most recently securing a new adaptation in Spain, where Keshet International licensed the format to Mediaset España for a version produced by Mediacrest for Cuatro, after the show previously ran for eight record-breaking seasons on Antena 3. This Spanish adaptation went on to win two Guinness World Records: the first for the most consecutive wins on a TV game show (a total of 300, won by a team called Los Lobos on 24 July 2018); and the second for the largest prize pot of 4.13M Euros (again won by Los Lobos). Their record-breaking winning streak captured the imagination of viewers across Spain, peaking at 4.3m viewers – a massive audience for Antena 3 which represented 28% of the available audience. In total, over 2,000 episodes were commissioned and produced in Spain between 2014 and 2022.

In Italy, Boom! marked a turning point in the Italian primetime slot, tripling the average market share of Discovery Nove and beating its direct competitor, Sky-TV8. Over 400 Italian episodes were commissioned. Having launched in the Philippines as a live stripped segment in GMA Networks’ hit TV variety series Eat Bulaga!, Boom! Philippines was re-ordered for an additional seventy-eight episodes via Television and Production Exponents (TAPE). Boom! Vietnam won the award for Best Game or Quiz Program in the 2019 Asian TV Awards.

Produced by Luis Cabrera and Ana Paula Carreira, from Miami

Record TV announced at Content Americas that among its 2026 highlights is the remastering of the hit telenovela La esclava Isaura, which will be available in 4K with 5.1 sound.

This was shared with ttvnews by Delmar Andrade, Record TV’s Director of International Sales. “The big news this year is the remastering of La esclava Isaura, which moves to 4K, adds 5.1 sound, and receives new color grading. It’s a brand-new novela, with a story everyone already knows,” he said.

According to the executive, there is great anticipation within the company for this new phase of La esclava Isaura. “Bringing the most important classic in our library into a different, large, powerful space, just as the novela was throughout the 20 years since its release,” Andrade highlighted.

Growing sports programming

The Brazilian giant continues to back its Seriella biblical series catalog, alongside all its long-standing, proven titles. However, in 2025 the company also achieved strong results with its move into sports content.

“2025 was very fascinating for us, favorable, because we went deep into football. Today, we have sports programming on our channel, with the acquisition of major championships such as those in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. We are returning to sports, mainly and especially football, which is the most beloved and most fiercely followed sport we have in Brazil,” Andrade commented.

Regarding his view of the industry, the Record TV executive noted that there is concern in the market about what lies ahead in 2026–2027. “We hope to be able to add some positive value and offer the market what we have,” he concluded.

*Produced by Luis Cabrera, from Los Angeles

One of the longest-running and most recognized production companies in the Brazilian market, Record TV has recently undergone several changes and renewals in its content strategy, with the goal of always staying ahead of the latest trends and demands in the industry.

“Record has been established in the international market for over 20 years,” Delmar Andrade, Record TV’s International Sales Director, began in a conversation with ttvnews. “The product has become extremely well-known through the first telenovela, La esclava Isaura, up to today.”

“Today, we are very concerned with providing exhibitors with a product that is always up-to-date,” the executive continued. “We just won the King of Spain Award for our documentary The Beast, and we’re paying special attention to documentaries. Customers continue to find Record a refuge for an important need, a new and impactful product.”

The executive also highlighted its successful telenovelas, with two new titles produced last year, and the change in strategy resulting from the Seriella Producciones division. “Today, we no longer handle the distribution of biblical telenovelas, which have changed from telenovelas to miniseries. This change is due to the fact that the market today wants shorter products with fewer episodes. Today, we’re paying special attention to biblical miniseries and international documentaries.”

And another major content development for Record this year comes in the sports sector: “The year 2025 is proving to be a good one for Record, based on a new strategy we’re using. We’re now devoting special attention to football. We’ve secured a new opportunity to acquire a large portion of Brazilian soccer, such as the São Paulo Championship. It’s become extremely attractive to our audience.”

“In the 1960s, we had all the football rights,” he recalled. “And then other groups grew, and we focused more on journalism and thematic telenovelas. Today, since there’s a split between Record and Seriella, which is the producer and distributor of biblical content, we began to focus on the opportunity to get back into football. Today, Record has football three times a week,” he concluded.

Each couple start as complete strangers, and over the course of a week, they each learn a specially choreographed dance routine separately, so the first time they ever meet is when they dance together. The music guides them through an intense and physical first date like no other.

Choreographed by a leading dancer/choreographer, the dances look and feel like Hollywood romcom moments. The singles bump into each other at stunning locations: the bandstand in a park, at a train station or a prestigious art gallery. As the real world melts away around them, they start to dance, and when the routine is complete, they split apart, only then deciding if the dance created enough of a spark for them to want to meet again.

Yari Torres, VP Latam at All3Media International commented: “We are thrilled to see this gorgeous romantic dating show travelling to Brazil with Record TV a 10 episode in-Studio version. Filled with real sweeping emotions that go beyond usual reality dating shows, it also explores beautiful, real-life stories that I have every confidence will draw in audiences across the territory.”

Marcelo Silva, Artistic Vice President at Record, shared: “This is a new format in Brazil that will mix romance with dance, two elements loved by Brazilians. As soon as we announced the registrations for the TV show, we had great interest from the public.”

Originally produced by Second Star and Objective Media Group for Channel 4, previous versions of Flirty Dancing have been commissioned in the US, France, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Sweden.

The UK version and format received multiple award nominations including two Broadcast Awards for Best Entertainment Programme and Best Original Programme; a Televisual Bulldog Award for Best Entertainment; a C21 Format Award for Best Reality Format and an Edinburgh TV Award for Best Popular Factual Series.

Record TV is present in Los Angeles with a renewed offer, which covers different genres such as documentaries, fiction and traditional telenovelas.

Opening the documentary genre, the Brazilian giant presents DOC Investigacion, a 12-episode true crime title, which combines the modern language of streaming platforms with the already renowned investigative journalism of Record.

DOC Investigacion exposes shocking police cases that occurred in Brazil, with crimes such as organ trafficking, serial homicides and unjust convictions.

Within the same genre, the group is also presenting La bestia, a multi-award-winning documentary that deals with immigrants who arrive in the United States; and El hospital, one of the most realistic documentaries they have produced in the last 10 years. The documentary delves into one of the most modern hospitals in Latin America in São Paulo, one of only two in Brazil that perform high-risk operations and procedures with a robot called DaVinci.

On the fiction side, after the launch of Seriella, which is exclusively in charge of biblical dramas, Record is presenting secular content, such as the acclaimed series Toppisima and Amor sin igual.

This 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of TTVNews, a big reason to celebrate for the group which is consolidating itself as one of the go-to media platforms in the audiovisual industry in Latin America.

And to mark the occasion, we’ve invited friends and colleagues to share their experiences, challenges and lessons learned over the last 20 years in this industry.

This time, Delmar Andrade, International Sales Director of Record TV Network, answers “where were you 20 years ago?”

Where were you 20 years ago?

20 years ago, the telenovela department didn’t exist yet, I was working as Vice Director of the television channel, which was practically starting. We started Record Group 22 years ago, we were in Brazil facing the great difficulties that we all faced 20 years ago, the government was a little more complicated.

When we acquired the Record Group, we had the opportunity to make a revival and this meant for the audience an opportunity for new programming, something new that came from the best producers in the world, Record TV began to bring the best products from the U.S. and Europe.

So 20 years ago when your group was starting, we were also starting the Record TV Network project. We send our greetings to all the friends of your group, may we together make more than 50 years.

What was your first industry event?

The first event in which we participated was in Cannes, we have always participated, but uninterruptedly for seven years.
