Brazilian producer bolsters slate with adaptation of crime writer Raphael Montes’ award-winning novel.

Media and entertainment group Banijay Entertainment today announces a Globoplay greenlight for Uma Mulher no Escuro, from its Brazilian scripted label, A Fábrica.

Developed in partnership with Casa Montes, the premium psychological thriller is based on the award-winning novel by acclaimed Brazilian author Raphael Montes.

The announcement was made on stage at Iberseries in Madrid.

Winner of the Jabuti Literary Prize for Best Entertainment Novel, Uma Mulher no Escuro follows Victoria Bravo, a woman who witnessed the brutal murder of her family as a child. Twenty years later, while attempting to rebuild her life, she becomes convinced that the killer has returned, drawing her into a tense mystery in which those closest to her become suspects.

The project marks the latest collaboration between A Fábrica and Montes, following A Estranha na Cama, for Netflix.

Based on the New York Times best-selling novels by Robyn Carr and adapted for television by executive producer and showrunner Roma Roth, Sullivan’s Crossing stars Morgan Kohan (When Hope Calls), Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill) and Scott Patterson (Gilmore Girls). The first season is set to launch on Globoplay in March 2026.

Shot against the idyllic backdrop of Nova Scotia, Sullivan’s Crossing is a character-driven drama centered on family, forgiveness and second chances. When neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan’s (Morgan Kohan) once bright career suddenly unravels, she is forced to return to the small town she thought she had outgrown. The Globoplay Originals Series is the first Brazilian production selected for the festival

A series that pays tribute to one of Brazil’s most iconic singers and songwriters, ‘Raul Seixas: Let Me Sing’ will have its first worldwide exhibition on March 25th, at 6pm, during Series Mania. The event, which is one of the largest international festivals dedicated to the series format, takes place from March 21 to 28 in Lille, France. The session will be attended by actor Ravel Andrade, who plays Raul in the production, as well as Paulo Morelli, creator and director, and Pedro Morelli, director of the series.

“I’m very happy that the series is already reaping some rewards even before its premiere in Brazil. It’s the first time that a Brazilian series has been selected for this festival, so I think it gives an even greater pleasure to premiere at this festival, to premiere with Raul and to take Raul Seixas’ story to France and the world. Besides Reincarnate, Globo is present at the Berlinale with the feature film O Último Azul, by Gabriel Mascaro, a Globo Filmes coproduction.

The first Globoplay Original horror series, Reincarnate will make its world premiere next Tuesday, the 18th, at 2:30 pm, on CinemaxX 4, during the 11th edition of the Berlinale Series Market.

Created by a collective formed by Juan Jullian, Igor Verde, Elísio Lopes Jr, Amanda Jordão and Flávia Lacerda, Reincarnate’is produced by Estúdios Globo and has artistic direction by Bruno Safadi.

One of the 17 productions chosen worldwide for the event, Reincarnate will be attended by the author Juan Jullian, the artistic director Bruno Safadi and the Guinean actor Welket Bungué, known for movies like Berlin Alexanderplatz and Crimes of the Future, on the first worldwide screening of the series.

“The European Film Market is an important guide to the narratives that are generating interest worldwide. And one of the aims of Reincarnate is to be a radically Brazilian narrative, offering a disruptive perspective on a contemporary and complex theme: the construction of identity. The invitation to premiere in Berlin confirms this aim and gives us an opportunity to tell this story at an event that brings together various players from the global audiovisual industry in a grand festive gathering of storytellers,” says Igor Verde, one of the creators of the series.

The story brings moments of tension in its nine episodes, with scenes of graphic horror; touches of romance and desire; and existential questions. If the life of the person you love most is hanging by a thread, are there limits to saving them? For Feliciano (Enrique Diaz), the answer is no.

The death of some can be a second chance for others. For over 20 years, since his wife Cássia’s (Simone Spoladore) first stroke, the surgeon has been looking for alternatives to save her from death. To achieve this, he is willing to go to extremes, with questionable consequences.

In addition to a strong Brazilian cast formed by Taís Araujo (A Mother’s Love), Julia Dalavia (Pantanal), and Enrique Diaz (A Mother’s Love), the work also features the Guinean Welket Bungué and the Portuguese Isabél Zuaa.

“The Berlinale is one of the greatest movie festivals in the world, it has enormous tradition and respect. The history of cinema passes through its screens and, in recent years, Berlin has opened up space at its festival for series. Besides Reincarnate, Globo is present at the Berlinale with the feature film O Último Azul, by Gabriel Mascaro, a Globo Filmes coproduction that is in the Festival’s official running, competing for the Golden Bear. The film was screened on Sunday, the 16th, at 3:30 pm.

This morning marked a historic milestone for Brazil, when the nominations for the Oscars were announced and the Globoplay Original film, I’m Still Here, received a nomination for Best Film, the first for the country in this coveted category.

The film was also nominated in the category of Best Foreign Film and Best Leading Actress for Fernanda Torres.

Alex Medeiros, director of Drama, Documentaries and Films for the Brazilian platform, is present at Content Americas in Miami and spoke with ttvnews about this great achievement.

“We are very happy to hear about the three Oscar nominations for I’m Still Here,” said the director.

“It’s a historic moment, not only for us, but for Brazilian cinema in general. It’s been more than 25 years since Brazil had a nomination for Best International Film and this is the first time it has been nominated for Best Film.”

ITV Studios is thrilled to announce that its globally successful dating format My Mum, Your Dad has been commissioned by Globoplay in Brazil. Produced locally by Formata the Brazilian edition will be the third new international market this year to bring the heartwarming show to viewers. Production is already underway and the series is set to launch on Globoplay in 2025.

My Mum, Your Dad, created by father-daughter duo Greg and Haley Daniels, has captivated audiences worldwide with its unique spin on the dating show genre, offering single parents a second chance at love with their adult children secretly playing matchmaker. The Brazilian edition marks the show’s latest expansion, as it continues to resonate across a diverse range of markets and cultures thanks to its cross-generational appeal and emotional authenticity.

The announcement comes as My Mum, Your Dad continues its global success, with its second season in the UK premiering this September and performing strongly on ITVX, becoming the platform’s No.1 non-scripted title of the last two weeks of September. Alongside the launch of season two in the UK, two new versions have premiered this year: in Poland (Moja mama i twój tata) and in French Canada (Ma Mère, Ton Père), being the #1 in its time slot with 23.9% market share.
