Dori Media Group and India-based Sphereorigins have announced the development and co-production of a feature film inspired by the attempted hijacking of a Flydubai flight bound for Tel Aviv on September 30. The project will dramatize the events and pay tribute to the pilot and passengers whose actions helped avert a tragedy.

The announcement was made by Dori Media Group CEO Nadav Palti and Sphereorigins Chairman and Managing Director Sunjoy Waddhwa. According to the companies, the project also follows interest from Indian streaming platforms and broadcasters in bringing the story to the screen. The deal was brokered by Subhadarshi Tripathy.

“What happened on that flight was nothing short of a miracle,” said Palti. “We will approach this film by looking to tell the heroic story of the pilot and those brave passengers who helped save the lives of many aboard that historic flight.”

Waddhwa highlighted the collaboration between the two companies on the international project. “We are privileged to collaborate with Dori Media on this premium project. We have known and worked with them for a long time and, together with Subh (Subhadarshi Tripathy), felt they would be the ideal partner to produce a film of this caliber, ” he said.

According to the announcement, the incident occurred when the flight’s co-pilot allegedly stabbed the pilot and attempted to crash the aircraft after takeoff from Dubai International Airport. The plane, which was carrying 174 passengers and eight crew members, plunged nearly 14,000 feet in less than 30 seconds during the struggle in the cockpit.

Passengers and crew members managed to overpower the co-pilot, while two other Flydubai pilots traveling aboard the aircraft took control and safely landed the plane in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

Captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian pilot who was allegedly stabbed by his co-pilot, managed to open the cockpit door from the inside despite his injuries, allowing others to intervene. During a video call with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Machchhar recalled: “I was lying on the floor injured, but I told myself to make one last push to open the door from inside. I was, of course, fighting for my own life, but at the same time I knew I was not going to let others die.”

The film adds to Dori Media Group’s ongoing activity in the international market. The company, which has offices in Zurich, Buenos Aires and Tel Aviv, has produced and distributed titles including Emmy Award-winning In Treatment, Rebelde Way, Lalola and AMIA, inspired by the attacks on the Israeli Embassy and the Jewish community in Argentina.

Sphereorigins, meanwhile, has more than two decades of experience in the Indian media and entertainment industry, with over 15,000 hours of programming across its portfolio.

Dori Media recently unveiled its largest-ever slate of unscripted programming ahead of the international television market Mipcom. The lineup includes new game shows, dating formats and docuseries for the global market, such as The Hive, You Should Know, My Hottest Years and New Love.

*with reporting by Carolina Mussio and Ana Paula Carreira from Cannes, France.

Dori Media Group arrived at Mipcom 2026 with its largest-ever slate of unscripted content and new scripted projects, including a series scheduled to begin filming in Argentina in November, according to Nadav Palti, CEO of the company, in an interview with ttv.

“We are bringing our biggest slate of unscripted content to this market, with around seven or eight different titles,” the executive explained. The lineup combines established formats, such as Power Couple and The Auction, with new entertainment shows, reality formats and documentaries.

Among the main highlights is New Love, a dating reality show produced by Abot Hameiri, part of Fremantle Israel, for Reshet 13. The format follows four single women who spend 72 hours living with potential partners before deciding whether to continue the relationship or start over with someone new.

“It’s a very successful reality show in Israel, with five seasons already completed and a sixth season underway. We believe it can work around the world because there is strong demand for this type of programming,” Palti said.

In the game show category, Dori Media is presenting The Hive, a format combining general knowledge with strategy, and You Should Know, which uses photographs and experiences shared on contestants’ social media accounts as the basis for its questions.

The factual lineup includes My Hottest Years, a documentary series exploring the physical, emotional and social changes women experience during perimenopause. “It’s not an easy subject to explain, but the series approaches it from so many different angles, with experts and people offering different perspectives. I think every woman should watch it, and then every man should watch it too, to better understand what women go through,” he commented.

Another highlight is Seekers, a six-part documentary series exploring alternative wellness and healing practices in different parts of the world. “We went to places that are extremely difficult to access, including the Amazon and India. These are places where it’s unusual for an entire television crew to be allowed in. It’s a very interesting production because it offers a look at different approaches to well-being,” Palti said.

“We also have a very important true crime documentary, A Recipe for Murder. It was shot in Thailand and Spain, about a very famous case,” Palti explained, adding that there is a possibility Netflix could develop a scripted drama based on the same story, although no confirmed agreement was mentioned. A Recipe for Murder revisits the case of Daniel Sancho and the murder of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta. Directed by José Gómez and originally released on SkyShowtime in 2025, the production is another title Dori Media is promoting internationally.

Two New Projects: A Scripted Series in Argentina and a Reality Show in Mexico

On the scripted side, Palti announced a new 28-episode project that Dori Media will begin shooting in Argentina in November, with a planned premiere across Latin America in March 2027. “I can’t reveal the title or any further details yet because we’re working with one of the biggest companies in the world,” he said.

The series is part of a broader slate of Spanish-language productions that Dori Media continues to develop with international partners. The company is also working on approximately five drama series in Israel and is promoting Young Suchard, a youth fiction series inspired by the early years of mentalist Lior Suchard, whose second season aired on Kan Kids.

Palti also highlighted the international success of Power Couple, which, according to his figures, has reached 25 countries and accumulated multiple seasons in several markets. The executive also discussed the evolution of reality television toward production and broadcasting models offering content 24 hours a day, citing experiences developed in Mexico and the US Hispanic market.

“We are developing another major reality show for Mexico and the US Hispanic market. I can’t talk about the title yet, but we hope to close the deal before the end of the year and produce it next year,” he revealed.

Another format making a comeback is Smart Face, known in Spain as Lo sabe, no lo sabe, which currently airs on Cuatro and has a new adaptation in Bulgaria. Palti also hopes to secure a new version in Brazil, where the format previously enjoyed a presence several years ago.

“We have everything from low-cost street game shows to major studio productions for primetime. That diversity allows us to adapt our offering to different territories, cultures, channels and platforms,” he said.

Asked about Latin America’s importance to Dori Media, Palti emphasized the company’s continued investment in the region, particularly in Argentina.

“We’ve been there since 2002 and we never left, not even during the difficult times. We’ve invested heavily in Latin America, especially in Argentina, but we’ve also produced in Mexico and Peru,” he said.

For the executive, the company’s long-term presence and relationships with local professionals are central to Dori Media’s strategy. “We greatly value local talent and creativity. Sometimes we invest our own money and take risks; other times we enter into co-productions or produce for third parties. We always seek to retain the rights to distribute the content internationally,” he explained.

The company also aims to bring its Latin American productions to markets across Europe, the United States, Asia and Africa. “We bring Latin American culture to the world. We believe in its creativity and its content, and that’s why we sell it internationally,” he said.

Palti warned, however, that current market conditions are making it increasingly difficult to finance new productions. “It’s much harder to close a production deal today. Costs are high and demand has changed. In the past, you could develop a project with just one company; now you often need to close deals with five or six different companies just to produce a series and get it on air,” he concluded.

Dori Media Group, the global producer and distributor behind hit format Power Couple, is coming to Mipcom with its largest slate of unscripted series in the company’s history, it was announced today by Dori Media Group CEO Nadav Palti.

Dori Media is unveiling numerous new unscripted game shows, dating formats and docu-series that will be made available to the world TV marketplace at the annual conference in Cannes, France.

The new offerings include game/quiz shows The Hive and You Should Know, entertaining docu-series My Hottest Years and the bold new primetime reality format New Love from Power Couple creators Abot Hameiri (Fremantle Israel).

Additionally, Dori Media is unveiling Paraiso Tropical (Tropical Paradise), a new documentary that investigates a mysterious Panamanian plane crash and six-part docuseries Seekers, which explores the depths of the human experience and search for meaning.

“We have been listening to our clients across the globe, many who are looking for affordable content that can help them break through with their local audiences and we are headed to Mipcom with our largest slate of unscripted programming, a slate that features many new offerings that we believe can do just that,” says Dori’s Palti. “From breakout new dating formats to fresh new quiz shows and original docuseries, we have numerous options that we believe will attract new audiences for networks/platforms of all sizes.”

Dori Media’s Mipcom offerings

The Hive – Studio Quiz Series from United Studios Productions, Kan 11, Makan

A smart, fast-paced, visually engaging and entertaining quiz that combines knowledge, strategy, and decision-making under pressure, with opportunities for dramatic turnarounds right up to the very last moment. In this game, knowing the right answer isn’t enough. Contestants need to know when to take a risk, when to block an opponent, and how to build a strategic play that will lead them to victory.

You Should Know – Entertainment Quiz series from Shenhar Productions

An entertaining quiz show where all questions are uniquely tailored to the contestants, drawing directly from their social media feeds. The format operates on the premise that since the contestants lived through these experiences, took the photos, and posted them online, they should logically know the answers. The game displays dozens of photos from the contestants’ pasts, effectively putting their personal social media timelines on display.

My Hottest Years – Documentary Series (3 X 50′) from Drucker-Goren Communications, Kan 11

A funny, candid and unfiltered three-part documentary series about what happens when a woman’s hormones change, and nobody gave her the memo. My Hottest Years follows an award-winning journalist as she goes down the perimenopause rabbit hole, asking the questions women everywhere are asking but rarely get straight answers to. What happens to a woman’s body, brain, sex life, relationships, confidence and career when estrogen begins to change? And why does something so universal still feel so confusing, private and, at times, almost taboo?

New Love – Dating Reality series Abot Hameiri (Fremantle Israel), Reshet 13

Four smart, strong and successful single women decide to break the patterns they believe have kept them single and dive immediately into finding New Love. They leave behind endless swiping and casual first dates and go straight into something much more revealing: living with a carefully selected stranger for 72 hours. At the end of three days, they have to decide whether there is a strong enough bond to stay together for another 72 hours or say goodbye and start again with someone new. “New Love,” which was just named Reality Series of the Year by leading media outlet Israel Entertainment, has aired for five consecutive seasons on Reshet 13 as Ahava Hadasha, delivering ratings growth each season. Its fifth season grew the audience by 40% over its fourth, while the 25-to-34 demographic jumped 250% compared to season three. A sixth season is currently in pre-production.

Paraiso Tropical (Tropical Paradise) – Documentary Film from APERTURA FILMS in co-production with AJIMOLIDO FILMS (90 minutes)

More than 30 years after a passenger plane exploded over Panama, killing all 21 people on board, filmmaker Abner Benaim reopens the unsolved case that took the life of his uncle. Blending investigative journalism, archival material and personal memory, Tropical Paradise unravels a decades-old mystery while exploring the enduring legacy of violence, loss and a truth that remains out of reach.

Seekers – Premium Documentary, Treehouse Productions (6 X 45′)

Blending rare access with visually rich, character-driven storytelling, the series features a standout cast—including Édgar Ramírez, Riley Keough, and Jamie-Lynn Sigler—as it explores the depths of the human experience and the search for meaning. Each episode unfolds through the lens of a different guide: an Amazonian Chief, an Advaita Monk, an African Healer, a Hindu Sage, a Native Grandmother, and a Buddhist Psychologist. Together, they guide seekers on a journey to confront universal challenges, drawing on ancient wisdom to rediscover what it truly means to be human.

Dori Media Group is bringing Abot Hameiri’s (Fremantle Israel) bold new relationship format New Love to the international TV marketplace ahead of Mipcom, it was announced today by Dori Media Group CEO Nadav Palti.

Abot Hameiri, the production house behind the hit global unscripted series Power Couple, has developed New Love, a format that puts four single women into accelerated 72-hour live-in situations with carefully selected strangers – moving past dating apps and manufactured first dates directly into the texture of daily life: waking up together, meeting friends and family, navigating real everyday moments. After 72 hours, each woman decides: continue for another round, or start again with someone new.

New Love, which was just named Reality Series of the Year by leading media outlet Israel Entertainment, skips straight to the relationship. No villa. No island. No bubble. 72 hours in real city life, with real grocery runs, family dinners and morning routines. The entire dating show genre is built on removing people from their lives to create drama. New Love does the opposite.

New Love has aired for five consecutive seasons on Reshet 13 in Israel as Ahava Hadasha, delivering ratings growth each season. Its fifth season grew the audience by 40% over its fourth, while the 25-to-34 demographic jumped 250% compared to season three. A sixth season is currently in pre-production.

“We are thrilled to bring Abot Hameiri’s New Love to the global TV marketplace,” said Dori Media Group’s Palti. “The numbers speak for themselves – five consecutive seasons of growth, and a format that has proven it can hook the younger demographic that every broadcaster is chasing.”

“Dating shows have been selling foreplay for 25 years, New Love sells the relationship,” said Roee Strikovski, CEO of Abot Hameiri (Fremantle Israel). “That’s the whole idea. We put four women straight into real life – 72 hours of actual daily life together, no filters, no isolation. Turns out, that’s where you actually find out if it works. Five seasons of Israeli audiences agree.”

New Love‘s 72-hour window creates urgency, but more importantly it removes the defense mechanisms people normally deploy when first dating. The couples are not locked in their apartments – they go on dates, spend time with the other couples and may meet each other’s friends or family.

By the time the decision arrives, both participants and viewers feel they’ve seen far more than a first date. They’ve had a glimpse of what an actual relationship between these two people might look like.

Dori Media previously announced that Power Couple has sold in more than 25 territories, including a first-ever 24/7 version that debuted this spring across Televisa/Univision’s platforms in the U.S. Hispanic market and Mexico. Additionally, Abot Hameiri and Dori Media’s game show The Auction recently launched on América Televisión in Peru and is now expanding to new territories globally.

Produced by Luis Cabrera, from Croatia

Known for creating content that can travel across the globe, Dori Media is now present at NEM Dubrovnik with a selection of productions suited for audiences in the CEE region, a territory that’s already familiar with several titles from the group’s successful catalog.

“This region, historically for us, has been big,” said Nadav Palti, CEO of Dori Media, in conversation with ttvnews at the event in Croatia. “Because we have our content that comes from Latin America and we’re still selling it here. It’s very impressive that we are selling this content produced in Latam and have been doing so for the last 20 years.”

“And the region is also buying more non-scripted content, which for us, is really great,” he added. “For example, our show Power Couple is present all over the region. In Hungary it’s on season 10, it’s in Bulgaria, in Norway on season 7, in Romania on season 4, and in Russia it’s on season 3 right now. So it’s all over the region.”

And to further expand the format’s presence, Dori Media is also presenting ¿Apostarías por mí?, the recently launched 24/7 version of Power Couple, produced by Fremantle Israel for TelevisaUnivision.

“We have a lot of expectations that the region will also move from the original version of Power Couple to this new one,” he said.

On the formats side, the executive also highlighted The Auction (La subasta), which “started in Latin America and is now moving to Europe. And hopefully we’ll start to do it also in Eastern Europe as well,” he said.

“We just closed a deal for Smart Face in Bulgaria,” he added. “It’s number one in ratings now, on Nova, beating the competition. As you know, it did great in Latin America, and now it’s having a come back in Latin America and Europe. It’s going to be in Brazil, and it’s airing successfully in Spain and Bulgaria…”

Dori Media is also presenting the global documentary series Seekers, which made its debut at L.A. Screenings. The series features a standout cast that includes Édgar Ramírez, Riley Keough and Jamie-Lynn Sigler among many others. Seekers is a six-part cinematic docuseries filmed across four different continents, which explores the depths of the human experience and the search for meaning. Created and directed by Gio Israel, it follows cultural figures, everyday heroes, and real seekers as they step into ancient healing traditions, sacred ceremonies, and deeply personal journeys through grief, identity, trauma, belonging, purpose, and the growing global mental health crisis.

“So, all in all, we have a lot of non-scripted that’s working very well in this region,” he said. “We have the historical content that we did in Latin America that continues to work very well, as well as drama and non-scripted. So the expectations are high, and we hope to sell a lot.”

With production by Luis Cabrera, from Los Angeles

Delving into the world of documentaries, Dori Media arrived in Los Angeles for a new edition of LA Screenings with the new global documentary series, Seekers.

Featuring a standout cast that includes Édgar Ramírez, Riley Keough and Jamie-Lynn Sigler among many others, Seekers is a six-part cinematic docuseries filmed across four different continents, which explores the depths of the human experience and the search for meaning.

Created and directed by Gio Israel, it follows cultural figures, everyday heroes, and real seekers as they step into ancient healing traditions, sacred ceremonies, and deeply personal journeys through grief, identity, trauma, belonging, purpose, and the growing global mental health crisis. Seekers got unprecedented access to global rituals, communities, and wisdom traditions rarely, and in some cases never before captured on film.

“We are trying to start working in the field of documentaries, and we believe this one is perfect”, María Pérez Campi, director of Sales for US Hispanic and Latam at Dori Media Group, said to ttvnews at the event in Los Angeles.

“This is our first docuseries”, added Nadav Palti, CEO of Dori Media. “We decided to get into it because our non-scripted content has been very successful. Our realities, game shows… so this docuseries will be part of that genre of non-scripted content. It’s the first time we are bringing something like it to the market.”

“And we believe Seekers will work very well in Latin America. It’s a very high-end production with a big investment. It demanded a big budget, because the series travels to the Amazon and India and different places, where very few people can get access. It is very impressive.”

In the same genre of unscripted content, Dori Media continues to showcase its series Young Suchard, with the added news of its second season now being in production.

Young Suchard follows the early life of international mind-reading sensation Lior Suchard, considered to be the world’s leading mentalist, known for his unique performances for A-list celebrities, global business tycoons, primetime TV specials, and shows for Fortune 500 companies across more than 90 countries. The 20-episode series blurs the lines between reality and imagination, offering a unique blend of comedy and drama with a nostalgic wink to the vibrant 90s in which he grew up.

“Young Suchard launched on Kan Kids and we are very happy with the results”, said Palti. “We have already started production on the second season, which will begin filming a month from now. This is unusual, we got the order at the end of last year, after they saw the first footage. We will be shooting another 20-episode season, which can be sold as a finished title or for remake locally, with Lior Suchard even being able to travel to do each one. We believe this will be a very successful title.”

Aside from docuseries, Dori Media is present in Los Angeles to celebrate the successful premiere of ¿Apostarías por mi?, the local edition of Power Couple, which premiered across all TelevisaUnivision platforms as the first 24/7 edition of the format.

Further expanding the format’s evolution, the 24/7 version was developed by Abot Hameiri (Fremantle Israel), in collaboration with Dori Media, enhancing the format’s reach and extending the Power Couple universe across multiple platforms.

“The succes of ¿Apostarías por mi? Is very important for us. We want to sell it worldwide, just like we continue to do with Power Couple“, Palti said.

Globally, Dori Media’s international sales team has sold Power Couple in Germany, Brazil, India, Mexico, the Spanish-speaking United States, and many other major countries, and recently licensed the format in Finland to Yellow Film.

In addition, Dori Media has secured renewals for Power Couple in Hungary, where it will return for a tenth season on RTL Hungary; in Romania, where it will premiere a fourth season on Antena; and in Bulgaria, where it has been renewed for a seventh season on Nova. Power Couple continues to be a global phenomenon, with over 70 seasons and more than 1,250 episodes produced worldwide.

Lastly, the executive highlighted the success of its other unscripted titles, such as La Subasta, Intuition, or Smartface, all of which have been sold and adapted in multiple territories around the world.

“We have the best of all,” the CEO said. “We have very successful non-scripted titles running all around the world.”

Dori Media is set to debut unique new global documentary series Seekers at L.A. Screenings later this week, a series that features a standout cast that includes Édgar Ramírez, Riley Keough and Jamie-Lynn Sigler among many others, it was announced today by Dori Media CEO Nadav Palti.

Seekers, a six-part cinematic docuseries filmed across four different continents, explores the depths of the human experience and the search for meaning. Created and directed by Gio Israel, Seekers follows cultural figures, everyday heroes, and real seekers as they step into ancient healing traditions, sacred ceremonies, and deeply personal journeys through grief, identity, trauma, belonging, purpose, and the growing global mental health crisis.

Seekers got unprecedented access to global rituals, communities, and wisdom traditions rarely, and in some cases never before captured on film. Season one features an array of stars including critically acclaimed actor Edgar Ramírez (Emilia Perez, The Assassination of Gianni Versace, Carlos), Riley Keough (Daisy Jones & The Six), and Jamie-Lynn Sigler (The Sopranos, Entourage)

“We are honored to bring Seekers to the global TV marketplace, as it is a truly unique documentary series that attained unprecedented access to global communities and many rituals that had never before been captured on film,” says Dori’s Palti. “We will be showcasing Seekers for the first time at L.A. Screenings alongside our many other scripted and unscripted offerings.”

“We’re living through a mental health crisis, but beneath it, I believe there’s something even deeper, a crisis of meaning, belonging, and human connection,” says the series’ director, Gio Israel. “We’ve built extraordinary systems, faster technology, smarter machines, bigger economies, yet many of us are quietly forgetting how to grieve, how to listen, how to sit with uncertainty, how to belong. Seekers was born from a simple question: what happens when modern lives meet ancient wisdom?”

Through its unique platform model, the producers of Seekers committed 11% of revenues directly back to frontline communities, building long-term cultural and community partnerships. These partnerships include building a preschool in rural Zimbabwe, providing medical support in the Amazon, and support for the Indigenous communities in the Himalayas.

Dori Media recently announced it has now sold its hit unscripted format Power Couple, created by Abot Hameiri (Fremantle Israel), in more than 25 global territories and secured renewals in numerous key territories. And Power Couple’s first-ever 24/7 version just successfully debuted across all of Televisa/Univision’s platforms in U.S. Hispanic and Mexico, wrapping up its first season in March for the Spanish broadcaster/streamer.

Prior to that role, Shahar was Head of International at Tehran producer Donna and Shula Productions. Before that, she spent more than a decade as Head of International Partnerships and Operations for United Studios of Israel, where she managed international scripted and non-scripted TV business activities – spearheading co-development, distribution, and remake deals – and led all PR and marketing initiatives.

Additionally, Shahar has extensive experience as a journalist and TV producer, including serving as an Associate Producer for CNN in New York and as a U.S. sports correspondent for Israel’s largest daily newspaper, Yedioth Aharonoth.

“Taliah brings a wealth of media experience with her to Dori Media, having worked in a variety of different roles across operations, partnerships, marketing and production,” says Palti. “She has deep industry relationships and a proven track record of leading strategic collaborations, and we are thrilled to have her joining our team at a very exciting time of expansion for our company.”

Added Shahar: “Dori Media has consistently proven its ability to turn local stories into global phenomena.
