At Mipcom, the company is also introducing FixiLab, a live-action format based on the brand, while advancing the development of its new animated series Shooting Stars.

*with reporting by Carolina Mussio and Ana Paula Carreira from Cannes, France.

Animotion Media Group arrived at Mipcom 2026 with a catalog of more than ten children’s and family properties, alongside new projects in development and a strategy focused on extending its established franchises into different genres, formats and digital platforms.

“We brought a large catalog of kids’ and family IPs, with more than ten properties, as well as several projects in development. We also brought a live-action format based on one of our flagship properties,” Julia Nikolaeva, General Manager of Animotion Media Group, told ttv in Cannes.

“The Fixies is our number one project, with worldwide distribution. Based on that franchise, we created a live-action format that has already been produced in China and will soon launch in the Middle East,” she explained.

The company’s presence at Mipcom follows a series of international distribution agreements, including a partnership with La Panadería Licensing & Marketing to bring The Fixies to TV Azteca in Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras. The deal covers the first three seasons of the animated series in Spanish, with exclusive free-to-air rights and non-exclusive digital rights for La Panadería’s FVOD and AVOD platforms.

“The agreement with TV Azteca was something we’d been waiting for for a long time. The series premiered this week, during Mipcom, so we’re still waiting for the ratings, but we’re very optimistic about its potential,” Nikolaeva said.

The Fixies Finds New Audiences in Latin America

The Fixies, an educational animated franchise about tiny creatures living inside household appliances and electronic devices, has been reaching international audiences for more than a decade. Its stories combine humor and adventure with explanations of everyday technology and scientific concepts.

“We started noticing significant growth over the past year, particularly on our Spanish-language YouTube channels and social media. This year, our Spanish-language channel reached three million subscribers,” Nikolaeva highlighted.

“The Fixies has been in the market for more than ten years, in over 30 languages. What we’re starting to see now is that there’s already a generation that grew up with the brand. On social media, we’re reaching parents and young adults who grew up watching the show and still feel attached to it. In that sense, the brand is becoming evergreen for them.”

The executive pointed to the importance of adapting established content to social media and changing viewing habits.

“We’ve seen some very interesting examples of our content going viral. For instance, we published a video explaining mathematics and how to count using your fingers, and some Spanish-speaking content creators picked it up. It generated around 30 million views in just one week,” she said.

“That’s further proof that we need to focus more on Spanish-speaking audiences, especially Latin America. We’re analyzing our data and trying to create more tailored content, particularly short-form videos, because consumption habits differ from one territory to another. Shorts are extremely popular in Latin America, across different ages and genres.”

For Animotion, repackaging existing animation is also becoming a central part of its digital distribution and monetization strategy.

“I think it’s a must nowadays for children’s content. That’s the beauty of animation: children can watch it again and again, and it doesn’t get old. We already have several seasons and feature films of The Fixies, so we need to think about how to adapt that material for different markets.”

“Our audience also helps us do that. Through their comments, their involvement and the trends we see, we can rethink the content we already have. It’s a very useful marketing tool, but also a monetization opportunity,” she explained.

FixiLab Takes the Franchise Into Live Action

One of Animotion’s main presentations at Mipcom is FixiLab, a live-action educational entertainment format developed from the animated universe of The Fixies. The format recreates the franchise’s laboratory setting, bringing together a real-life professor, children dressed as Fixies and animated sequences to explore science and technology through experiments.

“The idea is very similar to our animated episodes. We’ve already covered around 250 topics in animation, from technology to gadgets and everyday devices, so we have a lot of material to work with,” Nikolaeva explained. “We’ve already produced one season of this format in China, and now we’re producing an Arabic version for the MENA region. We introduced FixiLab to our international catalog at Mipcom and have already received interest from other territories.”

“We have a real professor playing Professor Eugenius, children wearing Fixie costumes and a laboratory setting similar to the one in the animated series. They conduct experiments together. For example, an episode might explore how a washing machine works. The professor and the Fixies investigate, ask other children questions and try to find the answers.”

“We also incorporate animation to explain the theoretical side. It’s a very entertaining 15-minute format, and because it’s a television show, we can reach a slightly older audience, up to 12 or 14 years old.”

The initiative is part of a broader effort to extend the lifespan of established children’s properties by introducing new formats and age groups.

“When you have a successful, sustainable franchise, you need to think about expanding it into different genres and reaching different age groups. That’s what we’re doing with The Fixies,” Nikolaeva said. “Animation takes a long time to produce, while live action can be faster. A format like this can also travel internationally. Once you have a popular character, you need to think about what else that character can do and where else it can exist.”

“We treat our characters like stars, almost like real actors. We also have a podcast with The Fixies. In animation, bringing together characters from different universes can sometimes be complicated, but in audio, for example, you can have two characters from different shows meeting in a podcast and having a conversation,” she explained.

Shooting Stars Moves Forward in Development

Animotion is also advancing Shooting Stars, a new animated action-comedy series centered on a girls’ football team whose players acquire extraordinary superpowers. The 2D project, presented in the company’s catalog as a 22 x 11-minute series, combines sports, science fiction, friendship and the challenges of growing up.

“At last year’s Mipcom, we were looking for the right partners for Shooting Stars, including animation studios and potential media partners. I think that during this Mipcom, we’ve finally found the studios we were looking for. We hope to announce more details soon,” Nikolaeva revealed.

“Coproduction has become essential. Platforms tend to prioritize spin-offs and projects based on existing successful properties, whether they’re books, series or films. When you’re developing a new IP, you have to bring together different partners and understand where and how the content will be distributed before the project can move forward. Putting all those pieces together takes time.”

In Shooting Stars, a girls’ football team gains superpowers after a mysterious meteor strikes their playing field. Their new abilities reflect their personalities and personal challenges, while the players must confront monsters threatening their city.

“It’s about a girls’ football team with superpowers, and those powers are connected to the problems they face growing up. For example, a girl who tends to run away from her problems becomes incredibly fast,” Nikolaeva explained. “It’s a story about friendship and relationships with parents, but at the same time, the girls have to save their city from monsters. We’re still keeping our focus on safe, family-friendly entertainment, while exploring new stories and audiences.”

Animotion Media Group is expanding The Fixies universe with the global launch of Fixie Ditties, a new English-language studio album that broadens the franchise’s content strategy into music and multiplatform experiences.

The album features 11 original songs aimed at children and is now available on platforms including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music. The tracklist includes a new version of Ticky Tock, one of the franchise’s classic songs, alongside tracks inspired by science fiction and time travel concepts such as Time Machine, Teleporter and Chatbot.

The new release adds to the music catalog developed around The Fixies, which previously included titles such as Sing with the Fixies and Fixie Beats, further supporting Animotion’s strategy of extending the IP beyond its audiovisual content.

Built around the adventures of tiny creatures who live inside everyday machines and devices, The Fixies combines entertainment with educational content focused on science, technology and how devices work. According to Animotion, the franchise has 22 million subscribers across its social media channels and YouTube, as well as 16 billion YouTube views throughout its 15-year history.

“The launch of Fixie Ditties is an important milestone for The Fixies. Building on the success of our previous music releases, this new album gives young fans a high-energy soundtrack that expands the world of The Fixies while staying true to the classic songs that helped build the franchise,” said Oleg Troyanovsky, Head of Music at Animotion Media Group.

With the release, Animotion is also strengthening its position in the children’s content business and its strategy of exploiting IP across multiple platforms. The company is planning further international expansions, interactive content and upcoming music releases connected to its properties.

Animotion Media Group is an international production and distribution company headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, specializing in content for children, teens and families. The company also operates as a music label, distributor and licensing partner, with a catalog comprising more than 1,500 episodes and over 1,300 audio assets.
Leyao Culture Communication announced that it has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Animotion Media Group, a globally renowned animation content producer, securing the Chinese stage adaptation rights to the hit educational animated series The Fixies.

The production is scheduled to premiere in late 2026, marking an important step in Leyao Culture’s expansion into children’s live entertainment.

A World-Class IP: The Educational Value Behind 17 Billion Views

Since its debut in 2010, The Fixies has been broadcast in more than 150 countries and territories worldwide. Following its launch on CCTV Children’s Channel in 2015, the series surpassed 17 billion views across online platforms, establishing itself as one of today’s most influential children’s educational animation properties. Through imaginative adventures set in a microscopic world, the series weaves scientific concepts -including mechanical engineering and the principles of physics- into compelling stories and has earned the trust and affection of families around the globe.

This stage production marks the first time The Fixies IP will enter China’s live entertainment market. Drawing on its extensive expertise in theatrical production and operations, Leyao Culture will recreate iconic scenes from the animated series on stage while incorporating China’s technological development and best practices in children’s science education. Guided by the STEM theatre concept of “watch a show, take a science lesson,” the production will offer Chinese families an experience that combines scientific discovery with artistic value.

A Strategic International Partnership Advancing Cultural Exchange

Zeng Lei, Founder of Leyao Culture, said: “The Fixies is a benchmark production in the global animation industry. Its scientific foundation and educational value align closely with Leyao Culture’s mission of sharing knowledge through the performing arts. By combining international production standards with the local cultural context, we aim to create a high-quality stage production for Chinese families that is both entertaining and educational.”

Julia Nikolaeva, General Manager of Animotion Media Group, said: “The Fixies is popular in 150 countries around the world. We look forward to seeing Leyao Culture bring these vibrant stage stories to audiences in China and worldwide. Animotion will provide comprehensive support across IP licensing, creative collaboration and production technology to ensure that the show remains true to the spirit of the original and meets the highest international standards.”

International Creative Teams Join Forces to Open a New Path for Family Theatre

The production will be jointly developed by an international creative team. While remaining faithful to the world of the original series, the script will be locally adapted to reflect the developmental needs and experiences of Chinese children. Multiple interactive segments will encourage young audience members to solve scientific puzzles alongside the characters, nurturing curiosity, a spirit of exploration and a love of learning through live theatre.

From an industry perspective, The Fixies already has a strong audience base in China. Its distinctive combination of science education and animation gives it a clear point of difference in the family entertainment market. This partnership is not only an important example of adapting an international IP for China’s children’s theatre industry, but also opens a new channel for cross-cultural exchange, extending collaboration from screen content to the performing arts.

The production is currently in the early stages of preparation, with casting and stage design progressing in parallel. Tour cities and ticketing information will be announced through Leyao Culture’s official channels at a later date.

Animotion Media Group has signed a new agreement with La Panadería Licensing & Marketing to bring The Fixies to Spanish-speaking family audiences across Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras.

The deal grants TV Azteca exclusive Free TV rights, as well as non-exclusive rights for Panadería-owned FVOD and AVOD platforms, for The Fixies Seasons 1–3 in Spanish. The series is scheduled to premiere during the second half of 2026.

The agreement marks a significant step in the continued expansion of The Fixies across Latin America, bringing the brand’s blend of comedy, adventure, and science-based storytelling to one of the region’s leading broadcasters. Through TV Azteca’s television and digital platforms, young viewers will be able to discover the world of the Fixies — tiny, clever characters who live inside everyday devices and help explain how things work.

Designed for children and families, The Fixies introduces basic science, technology, and problem-solving concepts through accessible stories, humor, and memorable characters. The series has become an internationally recognized edutainment brand, combining entertainment value with curiosity-driven learning.

“We are very pleased to partner with Panadería and bring The Fixies to Spanish-speaking audiences in Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras,” said Julia Nikolaeva, General Manager Animotion Media Group. “Latin America is an important region for children’s content, and this agreement allows us to make the series available to even more families through both traditional television and digital viewing environments.”

The launch on TV Azteca further supports Animotion Media Group’s international distribution strategy, focused on expanding its children’s and family brands across key global markets and making high-quality animated content accessible to young audiences through multiple platforms.

Animotion Media Group celebrates a new digital milestone for its flagship edutainment brand The Fixies: the official Spanish-language YouTube channel has reached 3 million subscribers and generated more than 1.8 billion total views.

The achievement highlights the strong and sustained connection between The Fixies and Spanish-speaking families around the world, confirming the brand’s ability to travel across languages, cultures and platforms while staying true to its core mission: making science, technology and everyday discoveries accessible and entertaining for children.

The Spanish channel has become one of the key pillars of The Fixies global YouTube ecosystem, introducing millions of young viewers to the tiny characters who secretly live inside machines and help children understand how the world works. Through humor, adventure and clear educational storytelling, the series turns everyday objects, household devices and basic scientific ideas into engaging stories for kids.

The milestone also reflects the continued importance of localization in the international growth of children’s content. By adapting The Fixies for Spanish-speaking audiences, Animotion Media Group has been able to build long-term engagement across Latin America, Spain and other Spanish-speaking communities, supporting the brand’s wider presence across television, VOD, digital platforms, music, publishing and licensing.

“Reaching 3 million subscribers and 1.8 billion views on the Spanish YouTube channel is a very meaningful achievement for The Fixies,” said Valeria Korotina, Director of YouTube Distribution and Talent Partnerships at Animotion Media Group. “It shows that educational content can achieve real scale when it speaks to children in their own language and respects the way families discover and watch content today. The Spanish-speaking audience has become an important part of The Fixies global community, and we are excited to continue developing this connection.”

The Spanish-language YouTube channel of The Fixies is operated by WildBrain, a global leader in family entertainment, one of six channels WildBrain operates for the brand. Commenting on the milestone, Jack Luckett, VP YouTube, WildBrain Network, said:

“Reaching this milestone with the Spanish-language channel is a strong example of how The Fixies continues to connect with kids and families across cultures. Since 2016, our partnership with Animotion Media Group has shown the power of combining high-quality educational storytelling with a thoughtful, locally relevant YouTube strategy. The growth of the Spanish channel reflects both the universal appeal of the brand and the strength of the WildBrain Network in building long-term engagement with family audiences around the world.”

The success of the Spanish channel follows the wider international momentum of The Fixies across multiple language markets. The English-language YouTube channel has surpassed 3 million subscribers and more than 3 billion views, while the Arabic channel has shown rapid growth in the MENA region, reaching more than 45 million views since its launch in 2024.

As demand for trusted, educational and entertaining kids’ content continues to grow, The Fixies remains one of Animotion Media Group’s strongest global brands, combining learning, humor and curiosity in a format that continues to resonate with families worldwide.

The Creative Media Authority (CMA) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Animotion MENA, international animation power house, to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a hub for next-generation storytelling and AI-driven content.

The MoU establishes a framework for collaboration across family, kids and teens content drawing on Animotion’s multi year expertise in animation creation. This includes the integration of new AI-powered short-form content, talent development, and industry enablement. The collaboration supports CMA’s mandate to attract innovative creative companies, nurture Emirati and UAE-based talent, and enable future-facing storytelling aligned with Abu Dhabi’s cultural, social, and economic objectives.

Through the collaboration, CMA and Animotion MENA will explore initiatives spanning AI-powered animation production, the potential development of an animation academy, and youth-focused content formats. These efforts are designed to strengthen local production capabilities, build sustainable talent pipelines, and support emerging creators through real-world industry exposure.

Responding to global shifts in content consumption, the partnership will also explore the development of vertical formats for teen audiences, a segment that remains underserved internationally. As part of this approach, the collaboration will create opportunities for on-screen talent casting and participation through existing CMA programmes, including youth camps and talent development initiatives.

This collaboration builds on CMA’s ongoing efforts to nurture young talent through hands-on learning experiences, including both its Winter Camp programme and the online creative media workshops held during the spring break. In partnership with Animotion MENA, dedicated sessions introduced students to storytelling for digital platforms, with a focus on visual creativity, character development, and responsible content creation. These initiatives reflect a shared commitment to equipping the next generation with the skills to navigate and contribute to the evolving digital media landscape safely and creatively.

This will enable young participants to progress from skills-building environments into live-action and animation productions, supporting early career exposure and practical industry experience. These concepts are expected to combine entertainment with themes centred on creativity, ambition, teamwork, and personal development, while enabling industry partnerships and brand integrations through CMA’s wider ecosystem.

Through CMA’s industry drivers, including the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, the collaboration positions Animotion as a strategic partner within Abu Dhabi’s creative media landscape. This includes access to industry introductions and production-enabling mechanisms, as well as eligibility for applicable incentive programmes, including the Film Commission’s rebate scheme, which has recently been expanded to include animation content.

Khalid Khoury, Director for Industry Development at the Creative Media Authority, said: “This collaboration reflects Abu Dhabi’s long-term commitment to building a globally competitive creative media ecosystem anchored in talent, innovation, and future media. By supporting AI-powered animation and next-generation storytelling, and by creating clear pathways for youth and emerging talent to move from camps and development programmes into on-screen roles and real-world productions, we are establishing Abu Dhabi as a platform where creators and studios can develop, produce, and scale content for global audiences.”

Julia Nikolaeva, General Manager at Animotion MENA, said: “Abu Dhabi offers a unique environment where creative ambition, technological innovation, and strategic vision intersect. Through this collaboration with the Creative Media Authority, we look forward to exploring how to integrate AI-powered technologies into traditional animation, youth-focused programming, and education-led initiatives can be developed from the UAE capital and scaled regionally and internationally.”

The MoU aligns with CMA’s broader strategy to enable ecosystem collaboration across government, education, and the private sector, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s sustained focus on animation, artificial intelligence, and youth-driven content as key pillars of its creative media economy. This approach is further supported by recent enhancements to the Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s rebate programme, which now extends eligibility to animation productions.
