LA-based film and TV studio Happy Accidents announces that Gnomes (6×30’), a co-production with Australian production outfits Total Fiction and Screen Invaders, has been acquired by Disney+ for the UK and Ireland, and AMC Global Media for Spain and Portugal.

The series follows Asa Butterfield (Sex Education, Unchosen) as Arnold Kipps, and his ex-partner Ellie McKay played by Megan Smart (Class of ‘07).

Set in Nompton – the once-thriving “Home of the Gnome,” now just a forgotten town with a bizarre claim to fame – small-town Senior Sergeant Arnold Kipps’ biggest headache was his ex-girlfriend-slash-ex-partner Ellie McKay returning to shut down his station – until he accidentally awakens an ancient Gnome Queen, unleashing a full-scale ceramic apocalypse. Now, Kipps and Ellie must put their differences aside and lead an unlikely army of misfits and a pair of undercover demon hunters against a horde of bloodthirsty garden gnomes.

Holly A. Hines (Ginny & Georgia, Fortitude) and Eric Jarboe (Falling for Christmas, The Princess Switch) serve as Executive Producers for Happy Accidents. The series was created by award-winning filmmaker Joel Kohn, founder of Screen Invaders, and is produced alongside John Molloy (Barons, The Gloaming) and Richard Kelly (The Tailings, Jones Family Christmas), who serve as Executive Producers for Total Fiction. The series was commissioned by Stan in Australia and picked up by ZDFneo in Germany through ZDF Studios’ subsidiary production company Network Movie. Happy Accidents is handling international distribution.

Award-winning creator Joel Kohn makes his network series directorial debut, as the director of Episode 5 and second unit director throughout the rest of the series. Series writer Tegan Higginbotham also stars in the series as Josie, Arnold Kipps’ police partner, with a serious case of anger issues.

Gnomes was recently showcased at the Series Mania Forum as one of the ten international series identified as global hits-in-the-making. It was also selected at the Content London Drama Pitch Competition as a top 12 finalist out of over 200 project entries from around the world and was awarded second place.

Holly A. Hines and Eric Jarboe, Executive Producers and Co-CEO’s at Happy Accidents say: “From start to finish, it has been a joy to bring Gnomes to life. Wildly imaginative, hilariously offbeat, and unlike anything else in comedy horror, it is truly a thrill ride that is equal parts ridiculous and terrifying. Finding the perfect homes for the series with Disney+ in the UK & Ireland and AMC Global Media for Spain and Portugal, following strong competitive interest, feels incredibly rewarding. We can’t wait for audiences to discover the show and experience its madness for themselves.”

Beta Film has secured a wave of international sales for the British hit series Patience, bringing the Channel 4 record breaker to 100 territories around the world.

Patience travels to AMC Networks for Latin America, ABC Australia, and across Africa to BBC Brit. In Europe, RAI acquired the rights to the series for Italy, while ProSiebenSat.1 bought the series for Germany, VRT for Belgium, Latvia (TET), and Estonia (Telia).

In Asia, NOW TV Hong Kong and NHK Japan have acquired the rights, as well as Ajara TV Georgia for Georgia.

Previous deals with Scandinavia, Spain, New Zealand, and others have already been announced.

Produced by Eagle Eye Drama in association with Beta Film, Patience season two continues to build on its success: On Channel 4, the series was the channel’s most-watched show across linear and streaming since its return. With the first episode delivering a 28-day audience of 4.2million, and streaming viewing minutes up 38% year on year, this marks +18% on the launch of season one.

In the United States, Patience was also one of the most popular series of 2025 on PBS’s digital platforms.

Set in the historic city of York, Patience season two once more stars Ella Maisy Purvis as the young police archivist Patience Evans, who is joined by a new team lead, Detective Frankie Monroe, played by BAFTA winner Jessica Hynes (Miss Austen, The Franchise), to tackle a series of tricky and twisted crimes. Detective Frankie Monroe brings a radically different management style, sparking tensions and forcing both Patience and Frankie to adjust.

Recently greenlit for a third season, Patience is set to begin shooting in Belgium and York this spring. Returning alongside Ella Maisy Purvis and Jessica Hynes are Nathan Welsh (Trying, Domina), Mark Benton (Bookish, Inside No. 9), Adrian Rawlins (Inspector Barnaby, Slow Horses), Tom Lewis (Gentlemen Jack), Ali Ariaie (The Great, The Couple Next Door – Deadly Attraction), and Liza Sadovy (Outlander, A Real Pain). Behind the camera, Maarten Moerkerke (Professor T) returns as director and is joined by Jan Matthys (Outlander). Matt Baker, lead writer on Patience season 1, returns and joins forces with Amy Shindler and Beth Chalmers, both lead writers of season 2.

Jo McGrath and Walter Iuzzolino serve as Executive Producers across all seasons.

Beta Film handles worldwide distribution. PBS Distribution holds the North American rights to Patience.

Global content producer and distributor Keshet International (KI) has completed a raft of sales for its compelling military thriller Conflict ahead of its world premiere on MTV Finland later this year.

One of the buzziest dramas previewed at the 2024 London TV Screenings – where K7 described the rough cut as “heart-pounding” and “the most impressive drama of the week for us” – Conflict explores the possibility of a proxy war breaking out in Europe.

KI has completed licensing deals for this English-dominant multi-language six-part drama to CANAL+ in France and Poland, AMC Networks International in Spain and Portugal, Telia Lithuania in Lithuania, Telia Estonia in Estonia, Tet and Latvijas Mobilais Telefons in Latvia, and HOT in Israel. Other active negotiations are still in progress.

Pilar de las Casas, VP of Series & Cinema, AMC Networks International Southern Europe comments, “Conflict is one of those action-driven dramas that compels you to keep watching as the story unfolds. With its international cast and live-action sequences that feel incredibly real, we think our viewers will love it.”

Kelly Wright, KI’s MD of Distribution, says: “Conflict has everything buyers and viewers are looking for right now, so I’m not surprised we are closing deals before officially launching this title at MIPCOM. Our clients are really responding to Conflict’s ripped-from-the-headlines plot; it’s English-dominant script and fantastic international cast; it’s thrilling action sequences and strong, relatable female lead characters; as well as its faceless “enemy” who remains unknown throughout. It’s must-watch TV!”

Co-created and produced by Andrei Alén and Aku Louhimies (Unknown Soldier, Rebellion, Inheritance), the multi-award-winning film director who also series directs this six-part series, and produced by Backmann & Hoderhoff and XYZ Films, Conflict (6×60’) stars an international cast that includes Peter Franzén (Vikings, The Gunman, Purge), Dylan Smith (Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Mazerunner: The Death Cure), Nadia Forde (Once Upon a Time in London), Sara Soulié (The Man Who Died) and Larry Lamb (Eastenders, Superman).

As a military unit of conscripts completes its training on Midsummer’s Eve, an unidentified enemy invades the picturesque Finnish peninsula. With foreign nationals amongst the 10,000 people now held hostage in the occupied area, the US President and other allies urge Finland’s newly elected President to take decisive action. Faced with the very real threat of a proxy war, President Saaristo (Sara Soulié) must follow her instincts and moral compass to not only secure the safety of her people, but to also prevent escalation into Europe and a global conflict.

Co-created and produced by Andrei Alén and Aku Louhimies (Unknown Soldier, Rebellion, Inheritance), the multi-award-winning film director who also series directs this six-part series, Conflict is produced by Backmann & Hoderoff, in association with XYZ Films, with backing from Business Finland and the City of Hanko. Nick Spicer, Aram Tertzakian, Maxime Cottay, and Marci Wiseman are executive producers for XYZ. Keshet International is distributing both the 6×60’ series and the format of Conflict on the global TV market.

Conflict is headlining KI’s MIPCOM 2024 slate, which includes its buzziest line-up of scripted content to date: two of the 10 dramas selected for the 2024 MIP Drama Showcase, Snapper Films mystery thriller Valhalla Project and Artza Productions’ crime drama The 11th Body (formerly known as Palo Alto); Keshet 12’s romcom Save the Date (Bekarov Etzli); two high-profile international dramas produced by KI entities, Rough Diamonds (co-produced by De Mensen and Keshet International for Netflix and VRT) and Echo 3 (produced by Keshet Studios for Apple TV+); and TV JOJ’s sophisticated thriller Too Much Love.

With a well-located stand in Riviera 7 (R7:K22), KI is returning to Cannes with its biggest delegation since 2019 and an autumn slate brimming with gripping entertainment to match.

AMC Networks today announced that Kristin Dolan, a seasoned executive with more than 30 years of media and entertainment experience and a longtime AMC Networks board member, has been named chief executive officer, effective February 27, 2023.

Throughout her career, Ms. Dolan has served in a number of leadership roles including most recently as CEO of 605, the audience measurement and data analytics firm she founded in 2016, where she has led all day-to-day business operations including key client relationships, product development, sales, research, finance, legal and marketing.

AMC Networks Interim Executive Chairman James L. Dolan said: “Kristin is a proven executive and operational leader with a track record driving organizational change, a history managing subscription-based businesses, and a deep understanding of audience engagement and advertising. These are areas of critical importance as we transform our company and monetize our high-quality content. With her considerable experience and knowledge of the company, Kristin is the ideal person to lead AMC Networks into its next chapter as we navigate this transformative period in the industry.”

“It’s a privilege to join a company with a long legacy of engaging audiences with excellent storytelling and world-class brands,” said Ms. Dolan. “It’s also where I started my career in the industry. I look forward to bringing my broad experience—across programming, cable operations, and most recently, utilizing data to reimagine television advertising—to leverage AMC Networks’ strong assets, drive the next phase of the company’s growth, and build shareholder value in the coming years.”

Prior to founding 605 and serving as its CEO, Ms. Dolan spent 16 years in various operating roles at Cablevision Systems Corporation, the country’s 6th largest MVPD, including as Chief Operating Officer. In this role, she led all aspects of the company’s cable operations with oversight of more than 10,000 employees spanning Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, Programming, Marketing, Product Management and Human Resources. She also had oversight of Cablevision Media Sales, the company’s advertising sales division, which was widely recognized for its pioneering data strategy that paved the way for an audience-driven approach to television advertising. Ms. Dolan was a key member of the leadership team that oversaw Cablevision’s 2016 sale to Altice USA for $17.7B, the highest revenue multiple in the history of telecom, and helped to lead the subsequent transition.

Prior to Cablevision, Ms. Dolan held various marketing roles at AMC Networks (then known as Rainbow Media), including in Affiliate Marketing and Distribution, where she began her career in 1989.

In addition to AMC Networks, Ms. Dolan also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for The Madison Square Garden Company (MSG), The Wendy’s Company (as well as on Wendy’s Audit and Tech Committees) and Revlon Inc. (on the Audit Committee). She has received wide industry recognition including being named a Cable TV Pioneer and a Multichannel News Wonder Woman and is a recipient of the NCTA Vanguard Award for Distinguished Leadership.

Acorn TV has secured SVoD rights in Latin America to a host of new seasons from hit detective drama brands. This includes the first five seasons of the UK’s leading drama export Midsomer Murders (18 x 120’ and 5 x 100’, Bentley Productions), seasons two and three of entertaining murder mystery Agatha Raisin, (a Free@Last and Company Pictures Production for Acorn TV) and five seasons of South Pacific Pictures’ atmospheric whodunit The Brokenwood Mysteries (20 x 120’).

Also heading to Acorn TV from all3media international’s detective drama slate are three seasons of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (34 x 60’), the first season of Ms Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries (4 x 120’) and new feature film Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears, all from Every Cloud Productions along with season one of Bunya Productions’ Mystery Road (6 x 60’). Further titles featured in the deal are two six-part series from Rollem Productions – Girlfriends and Love, Lies and Records.

Acorn TV is available in several countries in Latin America via Acorn.tv and Roku® streaming devices and continues to be a valued distribution and co-production partner for all3media international.
