Creators, screenwriters, producers, and production companies from Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and the U.S. Hispanic market are invited to submit their projects free of charge through September 2, 2026.
MIP Cancún announced the launch of the MIP Cancún Scripted Pitch, a new international competition created to discover fiction projects with international potential from Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and the U.S. Hispanic market.
According to the event organizers, this initiative “reinforces MIP Cancún’s position as the leading hub for the development, financing, and monetization of intellectual property (IP) in Latin America,” creating a new platform where creators, screenwriters, producers, and production companies can present original fiction series and feature film projects directly to prominent international executives seeking the next generation of premium content.
The call for entries is open to fiction projects in both early and advanced stages of development that are still seeking financing and international partners.
Five finalist projects will be selected to present their proposals live during MIP Cancún 2026 on Thursday, November 19, at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancún, Mexico.
“As MIP Cancún continues to establish itself as the leading hub for the development, financing, and monetization of IP in Latin America, the launch of the Scripted Pitch was the next natural step,” said Maria Perez Bellière, Director of Cancún. “Our goal is to identify stories with genuine international potential and connect their creators with executives who can help them reach audiences around the world. The Scripted Pitch reinforces MIP CANCÚN’s commitment to fostering intellectual property from its earliest stages of development, creating new opportunities for international co-production, financing, and market access.”
An International Jury of Renowned Professionals
The five finalist projects will be evaluated by an international jury composed of prominent executives specializing in commissioning, production, and content development, with extensive experience at some of the most prominent companies in the audiovisual industry. The full composition of the jury will be announced in the coming weeks.
The five finalist projects will receive:
· A free, all-inclusive pass to MIP CANCÚN 2026, which includes three nights’ accommodation (November 17, 18, and 19), meals, and access to all activities open to accredited participants.
· The opportunity to present their project live to an audience of commissioners, producers, streaming platforms, broadcasters, investors, and prominent industry executives.
· Visibility through MIP CANCÚN’s communication and marketing platforms.
· Networking opportunities with potential co-production, financing, and distribution partners.
The five finalist projects will present their proposals live during MIP CANCÚN 2026, on Thursday, November 19, 2026, at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancún, Mexico.
“We are particularly excited to announce this initiative, as it is the first time since before the pandemic that MIP Cancún has launched a pitch competition,” added Maria Perez Bellière. “We believe it comes at a pivotal moment for the industry, which is undergoing a profound transformation, and when it is more necessary than ever to provide visibility, a platform, and concrete opportunities to new voices, new talent, and new stories with international potential.”
“With this launch, MIP Cancún reinforces its mission to add value to the industry, not only as the region’s leading market but also as a platform to promote cutting-edge content, facilitate strategic connections, and support the development, financing, and international reach of new Ibero-American IP,” she emphasized.
