The new season of Shine Iberia’s format will premiere exclusively on December 18 and will consist of five episodes.
Shine Iberia, part of Banijay Iberia, has announced a new season of MasterChef Junior Spain, which will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in Spain for the first time.
The new edition will launch on the platform on December 18 and has been developed specifically for Disney+, with a revamped structure, pace and content while retaining the core DNA of the format, which has become a staple of family entertainment in Spain for more than a decade.
The move to Disney+ also opens up new creative possibilities for the production, which will feature themed episodes and challenges inspired by the Disney universe. The season will combine cooking with characters and stories that resonate with audiences across generations.
The five-episode season will bring together 16 aspiring young chefs between the ages of 8 and 12, who will put their culinary skills to the test through a series of games and challenges.
Pepe Rodríguez, Jordi Cruz and Delicious Martha will serve as judges throughout the competition.
The winner will receive a €12,000 cash prize, the MasterChef Junior Spain trophy and a four-day course at the Basque Culinary Center for the winner and a guest.
“Few formats have the longevity and versatility of MasterChef. Its ability to continually evolve is what has made it such an enduring global brand. Disney+ is a natural home for MasterChef Junior, sharing its focus on family entertainment and values such as teamwork, respect, camaraderie and creativity,” said Macarena Rey, CEO of Shine Iberia.
Sofía Fábregas, Vice President of Original Production at Disney+ Spain, highlighted that MasterChef Junior represents the type of projects the platform aims to continue adding to its catalog: formats that are deeply connected with local audiences and capable of bringing different generations together.
“This new season was conceived specifically for Disney+ and represents another step in our commitment to continuing to expand our offering of local productions and unscripted entertainment in Spain,” she said.
Represented internationally by Banijay Entertainment, MasterChef is one of the world’s most successful cookery formats. Created by Franc Roddam and first launched in the UK in 1990, the format has been produced in more than 70 markets, broadcast in more than 200 territories and reached more than one billion viewers worldwide.
