Series Mania announced that the award will be presented on March 20 and given to an outstanding woman in the broadcast industry to honor her vision and leadership.

Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of programming for HBO and head of drama series and movies for HBO, was selected as the winner of the fourth annual Woman in Series Award, it was announced today by Laurence Herszberg, founder and CEO of Series Mania, and Francesco Capurro, director of the Series Mania Forum, in celebration of Women’s Day.

This award, given to an outstanding woman in the audiovisual industry to honor her vision and leadership, will be presented on March 20. In addition, Francesca Orsi will participate in an exclusive conversation with Jane Tranter (Bad Wolf), one of the most successful and celebrated female television producers in the UK and around the world.

“Awarding Francesca Orsi this award for 2024 was an easy decision and an obvious choice for us. She continues to shine with an incredible career and perfectly embodies the ‘Woman in Series Award’ brand: Bold, Innovative, Creative, and Visionary. Francesca is a true leader, and I am incredibly honored to present her with our award this year,” commented Laurence Herszberg.

For her part, the award winner noted that Series Mania has long supported HBO. “I am truly honored to receive this year’s Woman in Series award. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to collaborate with some of the most talented, intelligent, and creative people in the industry,” she expressed.

Orsi dedicated this award to women. “Both in front of and behind the camera, who have been the lifeblood of many of our network’s projects. Their work matters far more than mine, and I could not do what I do without their fantastic contribution to storytelling in our company.
I look forward to continuing to prioritize their voices and those of others in the work,” she said.

Previous winners include Christina Sulebakk, GM of HBO Max EMEA, in 2021; Mo Abudu, CEO of The EbonyLife Group, in 2022; and Nicola Shindler, executive producer and managing director of Quay Street Productions, in 2023.
