The highly-anticipated Amazon Prime Video original will premiere worldwide on Friday, June 5th.

El presidente, the highly anticipated original production by Amazon Prime Video, about the corruption scandal known as “FIFA Gate”, will premiere on June 5th 2020.

The announcement was made by Amazon Prime Video, which confirmed the series will air in over 200 countries and territories around the world, while unveiling its official trailer.

With cities in Latin America, the US, and Europe as the backdrop, the series explores the sports scandal that rocked the world through the story of Sergio Jadue, the president of a small Chilean soccer club that emerged from obscurity to become a key piece in a US$ 150 million bribery conspiracy at the hands of the president of the Argentine Football Association, Julio Grondona.

With eight one-hour episodes, the series stars Karla Souza (How to Get Away with Murder), Andrés Parra (Pablo Escobar) and Paulina Gaitán (Devil Guardian), among others.

It was written and directed by Oscar-winning director and screenwriter Armando Bo (Birdman), who is also an executive producer on the series, along with directors Natalia Beristain (Luis Miguel: the series) and Gabriel Díaz (Bala loca).

In addition to Bo, El Presidente is co-produced by Gaumont with its production partners, Fabula (Oscar-winning Chilean producer founded by Pablo and Juan de Dios Larraín) and Argentine producer Kapow.
