Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the events’ organization announced Discop Abidjan will move its dates from May to September 3-4, while Discop Johannesburg will postpone its dates from July to October 28-29.

DISCOP Abidjan and DISCOP Johannesburg, Africa’s leading film, television, and digital content markets, have been respectively postponed to 3-4 September 2020, and 28-29 October 2020.

Organizers said the 2020 editions – which were expected to host over 500 companies driving media, entertainment and advertising business across Africa – have been moved from their May and July dates due to growing concerns related to the spread of the coronavirus on the continent.

Both DISCOP Abidjan and DISCOP Johannesburg will return to their original May and July dates and to three-day editions in 2021.

DISCOP President Patrick Zuchowicki Jucaud said: “We were more optimistic three weeks ago but the safety of our clients and staff is our priority. The last part of the year will be busy, and we believe these new dates will provide the DISCOP community with the opportunity to achieve their business objectives in Africa.”

The latest figures show coronavirus affecting 2819 persons in 46 African countries with 73 recorded deaths.

During these challenging times, organizers will be communicating individually with registered participants and help them organize virtual meetings with their existing clients and prospects in Africa.
