Deep in Love Dominates the Ratings in Turkey

The drama, distributed by OGM Universe, has held the top spot in the ratings for eight consecutive weeks, getting higher results with each new episode.

Under the original title Taşacak Bu Deniz, Deep in Love is the biggest hit of the new television season in Turkey. The drama, produced by OGM Pictures for TRT 1, has reached number one in the ratings during Friday prime time and continues to grow, becoming the number one program for eight consecutive weeks.

Its latest episode, the 10th of the season, aired on December 12th and reached 39,42% of the share on Total Viewers, growing almost half a point (0,40) on the ratings (16,29) compared to the previous one, , according to TIAK’s daily report. This is one of the highest 10th-episode performances in Turkish television recent history.

Deep in Love performed even stronger in the sought-after AB (1) and ABC1 (1) groups: 15,21 points (+0,57) and 40,5% share in AB, and 17,52 points (+2,14) and 41,65% share in AB1.

According to OGM Universe, these milestones “place the title ahead of several iconic hits and reinforces its position as a leading premium drama with strong long-term potential in international markets”.

Deep in Love continues to exceed expectations with its exceptional ratings performance and fast-growing global digital traction. With its strong storytelling, emotional depth, and outstanding cast, it stands as one of the most compelling new dramas of the season. We are excited to present this title to our international partners,” shared Ekin Karaman Koyuncu, Global Distribution & Partnership Director at OGM Universe.

Powerful and Grounded Drama

Created by Ayşe Ferda Eryılmaz and Nehir Erdem, and directed by Çağrı Bayrak, Deep in Love brings together Ulaş Tuna Astepe, Deniz Baysal, Burak Yörük, and Ava Z. Yaman in a story that bridges the mythical and the modern.

In the drama, Adil Koçari, the proud leader of the mountains, returns to reclaim the land and the love he lost, but a single gunshot from Esme Furtuna should have ended everything. Instead, it all begins again. Their forbidden love ignites a storm of vengeance and desire, echoing an ancient legend where the mountain and the sea can never touch, yet never stop reaching for one another.

The ambition for the title was big: “To redefine epic romance for a new generation, blending mythology, passion, and destiny against the raw beauty of the Black Sea.” It has proven to not be just boastful talk.

"Deep in Love continues to exceed expectations with its exceptional ratings performance and fast-growing global digital traction. With its strong storytelling, emotional depth, and outstanding cast, it stands as one of the most compelling new dramas of the season"

Audiences have been captivated by its powerful narrative, its deep emotional drama, one that stays grounded and allows the performances to lead the way. Silences, looks and internal conflicts are key elements of how Deep in Love navigates its character conflicts, something that is appreciated by the audience, which associates it with a more “adult and urban” storytelling.

There are also rave reviews for its pacing and the steady development of its characters and, of course, when it comes to locations and production values, the drama is top-notch, as we have come to expect from OGM Pictures. Because of its slower pace and cinematic “language” Taşacak Bu Deniz has been compared to a streaming series.

“Visually grand, emotionally charged, and universally relatable, Deep in Love stands as a defining work within OGM Universe’s expanding international catalogue, a story where myth meets memory and where love, no matter the distance of time or pride, always finds its way home,” explained the distributor.

A Forbidden Union

Deep in Love unfolds on the untamed coast of the Black Sea, where waves and mountains have been at war for generations.

Long ago, the sea maiden Furtuna and the mountain boy Koçari defied their clans to love each other. Their forbidden union ended in betrayal and death, and the gods, enraged, turned their people to stone. Since that day, the villages of Koçari and Furtuna have lived divided, bound by blood, pride, and an ancient curse.

Centuries later, that hatred still breathes. The Koçari and Furtuna families rule their opposing villages, trading only vengeance and pain. But love knows no boundaries.

When Adil Koçari, the fierce son of the mountain, and Esme Furtuna, the brave daughter of the sea, fall in love as teenagers, their secret passion reignites the feud. Their love story is one of fire and salt, torn between duty and desire, loyalty and freedom.

Deception tears them apart. Esme is forced into a loveless marriage after being told her child has died, unaware that her baby has been given away. Years later, Adil becomes a powerful man, the king of livestock in the Black Sea region, still consumed by his loss and his hatred. Esme, now a widow, runs a small guesthouse by the sea and serves as the village head.

When Adil seeks revenge once again, fate strikes back. Wounded by Esme’s hand, his life is saved by a young doctor named Eleni Miryano, who has just arrived from Greece searching for her true origins. Raised by a Greek family, Eleni has no idea she is the lost daughter of Adil and Esme, the child stolen from them long ago.

As Eleni heals Adil, a deep bond forms between them, unaware of the blood that connects them. And when she finds herself drawn into the rivalry between Koçaris and Furtunas, love and destiny collide once more. In this land where gods once punished love, can the daughter of two enemies finally bring peace? Or will the Black Sea rise again and drown them all in its rage?
