The package includes veterinary drama Barton Vet, French thriller A Guilty Affair and German period drama Mozart Mozart, three productions featuring female-led stories.

Beta Film has closed a deal with Italian public broadcaster Rai for the acquisition of three international drama series ahead of Mipcom 2026. The package comprises Barton Vet (12×60′), A Guilty Affair (4×60′) and Mozart Mozart (6×60′), productions from the US and Canada, France and Germany, respectively.

The deal strengthens Beta Film’s presence in the Italian market with a slate spanning family drama, thriller and period fiction, featuring female protagonists at the center of stories about personal relationships, ambition and overcoming adversity.

Barton Vet is a veterinary drama produced by Canada’s Shaftesbury in association with BYUtv. The series follows Dr. Kate Barton, played by Georgina Reilly (Quantum Leap, City on a Hill), who takes over her family’s rural veterinary clinic following her father’s death. As she works to save animals and navigates the challenges of her personal life, Kate must also find her own path to healing. Beta Film handles worldwide distribution.

The package also includes A Guilty Affair, a four-part French thriller centered on Morgane, a high school principal who embarks on a desperate search after her daughter disappears. The investigation raises the possibility that the young woman was murdered by the new physical education teacher with whom she was having an affair. The series is produced by France Télévisions, Episode Productions, Be-Films and RTBF, with Beta Film handling international sales.

Rounding out the deal is Mozart Mozart, a six-part German period drama set in 1780s Vienna. The series follows Maria Anna Mozart, the talented sister of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, whose musical abilities are overshadowed by her brother’s fame. When Wolfgang’s behavior threatens the family’s future, Maria Anna secretly takes his place and performs under his name. The series is produced by Story House Pictures in co-production with ARD (WDR/SWR/ARD Degeto Film), ORF and Dreaming Sheep Company. Beta Film and Bavaria Media handle worldwide sales.

The deal is announced ahead of Mipcom 2026, the audiovisual market in Cannes that brings together international distributors, producers, platforms and buyers.
