The creator of Fake Profile and ¿Dónde Está Elisa? will develop a new original drama series alongside the Turkish production company’s creative team and its Ibero-American division, as Ay Yapım continues expanding its original content strategy across Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking markets.

Turkish production company Ay Yapım has announced a development and writing agreement with renowned Chilean screenwriter Pablo Illanes for a new original drama series, currently in development.

Under the agreement, Illanes will write and develop the series as its author, working directly with Ay Yapım’s creative team and the company’s Ibero-American division. The project is part of Ay Yapım’s strategy to expand its production of original premium content for Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking markets, alongside its catalogue of international formats.

With a 30-year career, Illanes is one of the most recognized screenwriters in Spanish-language television. His credits include Prófugos, HBO’s first original series produced in Chile, as well as titles such as Fuera de control, Machos, ¿Dónde está Elisa?, Alguien te mira, and Perdona nuestros pecados. He is also the creator of Netflix’s successful Colombian series Fake Profile and is involved as a writer in the fourth season of La Reina del Sur for Telemundo and Netflix.

“Our stories have been watched in Spanish and Portuguese-speaking markets for years, and now we want to create for those audiences from the inside,” said Kerem Çatay, founder and CEO of Ay Yapım.

“Pablo has written some of the most watched drama in the Spanish-speaking world, with the emotional depth our audiences recognize in our own titles. Working with an author of his standing is a source of pride for us, and I am confident that bringing his creative approach together with ours will result in a title we will all be proud of,” he added.

Illanes also highlighted the opportunity to collaborate with one of Türkiye’s leading drama producers, behind internationally successful titles such as Kara Sevda, Yargı, Fatmagül, and Çukur.

“Ay Yapım’s series are seen in more than a hundred countries, and what carries them is their depth and their character work. That is what makes them so compelling,” said Illanes. “Working with a company that has this vision is a beautiful challenge, and I couldn’t be happier about this agreement.”

The partnership also represents another step forward for Ay Yapım’s Ibero-American division, led by Iñaki Vicente, Chief Content & Strategy Officer for Spanish and Portuguese Markets, who joined the company in early 2026 to oversee content strategy and production across Spain and Latin America, including Brazil.

“Partnerships like this one combine the best of both sides to develop content with real emotional connection and the ability to travel,” said Vicente. “That is exactly what our Ibero-American slate was designed for, and it sets the standard for what comes next.”

Ay Yapım said further details of the new series, including its title, cast, and partners, will be announced in due course.
