Tony Tackaberry (Lion TV Inc), Selina Nederhand (SPT LatAm), and Nick Smith and Rachel Gleister (all3media international) will oversee the first round of judging for the formats pitching event.

Independent distributor all3media international has confirmed the short-list judges for its debut MIP Cancun Entertainment Formats Pitch, the premier regional pitching competition for new non-scripted entertainment format concepts.

The 2019 event, which culminates at MIP Cancun in November, is run in partnership with Reed Midem.

The four short-list judges -who will oversee the first round of judging- are Tony Tackaberry, CEO of Lion Television Inc and Selina Nederhand, VP Content Strategy & Acquisitions at Sony Pictures Television Latin America, alongside all3media international’s EVP Formats, Nick Smith, and EVP International Brands & Press, Rachel Glaister.

Tony Tackaberry brings a wealth of experience in developing non-scripted productions, including titles such as Cash Cab and History Detectives. Prior to joining Lion Television Inc, where he oversees the company’s US operations, Tony worked for major international production companies including Endemol, Fremantle and Tiger Aspect, and his further credits including The Life Laundry and Metroland.

Selina Nederhand is a seasoned media executive with expertise in production, acquisitions and distribution. In her current role, Selina oversees original productions and content acquisitions for Sony Pictures Television across Latin America.

With over fifteen years’ experience of developing and producing formats, all3media international’s Nick Smith looks after the company’s global productions, including 30+ adaptations of Gogglebox, format acquisitions and strategy.

Rachel Glaister manages the publicity and marketing for the company’s wide portfolio. Managing the global brands creative and publicity strategies for dramas, including The Missing and National Treasure, award-winning formats such as Undercover Boss, and contemporary comedies such as Fleabag and Gameface.

Creators and producers from across Latin America are invited to submit their non-scripted format concepts -in the entertainment, factual entertainment, reality or game show genres- ahead of the 13th September 2019 deadline.

The short-list judges will then select the entries to proceed to the next round of competition, which will be announced on 27th September 2019.

The recently announced on-stage judges are Michela Giorelli, VP Production & Development, Discovery Networks LatAm; Felix Wesseler, Director of Operations, Filmpool; Frank Scheuermann, Director of Non-Scripted Formats, Televisa Mexico; and Francisco Cordero, CEO, BTF Media.

The panel will be chaired by Janel Downing, VP of Sales, Latin America, all3media international.

The winner, announced at MIP Cancun following the Formats Pitch event, will receive a cash and consultancy prize package, plus the opportunity to partner with all3media international in developing the format for pitching to global broadcasters.

MIP Cancun takes place at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico from 20th to 22nd November 2019. This inaugural edition of the MIP Cancun Entertainment Formats Pitch adds to recent all3media international and Reed Midem collaborations such as the Asia Television Forum Formats Pitch and MIPTV Pitch.
